Stop in for a cup of coffee

The little beverage cooler went in, had to be modified to fit because of top hinge and feet. Wife isn't happy with her paint job (me neither but what would I say lol) so we picked up some high gloss white last night, will try to help her touch it up, think I'll start with a flat file : ) Fridge needs BEER!

Got my calendar in the mail yesterday, very nice, really like all the group pics and that is has some of the shows/swaps on it for a reminder.

When we were doing the remodel on SLC6 at Vandenberg AFB for the Shuttle, we had to cross a good share of South VAFB to get there. The base was mostly Calif coast wilderness with some holes poked in the ground and these funny steel towers here and there. We had 2 gates we could enter with and 1 of them was closed before 06:00, if we had to be onsite earlier we had to use a different gate and route that was even more wild than the other. Carpenter that ran our saw yard making concrete forms and such drove a Jag XJ6. That alternate route had lots of wildlife on it and a particularly large Blacktail buck used that road frequently. The sawman found the buck early one morning. That Jag looked like a Miller Light can you stepped on for recycling after their interaction

The deer won! Wife quickly racked up 5k in damages to her Stinger, doesn't take much to get there with prices today.

Matt a cool thing keeping historical landmarks like this alive for the future generations. I've been to sites like this before and it always gave me an appreciation for what they did and the hardships they endured. Thanks for what you do!!
It was a big part of my life. Really never thought I'd be going back again. This time is a bit different. Sadly the living history aspects are gone and frankly its shocking to see what has happened since I was last there (2003).

Amazing piece of history, military headquarters back in the day, like it!
The map of outpost postions in that booklet illustrates that well.

Although not as symbolic as Valley Forge became, Morristown was a more important base of operations in pretty much every respect. I think it also is more relatable and relevant today. The war is entering its fifth year with mounting problems and falling enthusiasm. Its a complex war spread over the entire eastern seaboard, western lands, and beyond. I could go on but coffee is getting cold! Just like the winter. ;)

Very cool Matt

A lot of early- mid 18th C fort sites along the valley and Cacapon Rivers out here. To think this was the edge of civilisation not that very long ago

Pretty cool Matt, Want to borrow a metal detector?
Only if you want to be a guest at Tikey's workplace! :poke:

Had someone busted doing that with his kids. Didn't go well. Story for another day.

Seriously, metal detecting is now an important tool for these military sites with little other clues to locate sites and areas of activity, etc. Every find is located and plotted exactly on a map.

My workplace?

I did my place here found a few relics. There was a Indian village behind me in the 1700's. Best find was half a grenade. Think I gave it to OMR for a local museum by him.

No but the local militia did. I found this cast iron ladle spoon thing, got to looking at it after cleaning it, where like the handle went you can see a s shaped channel. Brought it to the civil war museum, they said they used to use them in the late 1700's early 1800's. Cool find. Right where the shop is now.
