You just have to push harder. But they made a lot of cars without them. My buddy down the road did it.

Check the bore of the master I think you need 15/16. There is a thread on it here.
 
The pop sucked with them. That's why I went power and 4 wheel disk. Still a bit slow but 200% better than the stock manual.
 
so - not really a good idea - I do want it to stop WELL

You definitely lose efficiency and I think Hops is right you have to get a different MC (bigger bore) but they didn't always have boosters on and some don't have them
 
Ouch that is crusty, I would do a quick rebuild on it for sure or go with a late model jeep/Chrysler dual. You will need a adapter plate if you go that route.
 
Wow moving right along this morning. Took a run for some ice. Waiting on the sister in law to pick up my wife so I can start pulling out all the chairs and start setting up.
