I actually knew that, I was referring to the Popmobile. Yours is a stroked 408 360. Right? Performer RPM, Demon 750, no?mine is a SB
a saaaamokin' hot rod...Ok, guess not. What IS the popmobile, actually?
took the Demon off recently - went with a Quick Fuel 750 race (no choke)I actually knew that, I was referring to the Popmobile. Yours is a stroked 408 360. Right? Performer RPM, Demon 750, no?
It's on fire!a saaaamokin' hot rod...
Ah! I WAS correct - partly.took the Demon off recently - went with a Quick Fuel 750 race (no choke)
67 to 76 A bodies have virtually the same engine bay.So was the front chassis actually any different between those years and 1974? I mean, did the R block fit any better in a 1969 than in a 1974?
None.... Ya gits lotsa Dirt !!What's the downside to removing the inner fenders like you've done, Mike?
So ... the B block would fit just as well in a 74. But the RB is taller which puts the exhaust ports higher up too. Maybe that causes more clearance issues?67 to 76 A bodies have virtually the same engine bay.
I suppose it is necessary to add the reinforcement tube you always see when they're gone, right? And then you might as well go coilover?None.... Ya gits lotsa Dirt !!
Yes, This is why ma Mopar installed mostly 383' or B blocks rather than 440's or RB blocks in the A body. Lots of A bodies with 440's, out there, but it is a tighter fit. This is also why guys take a 400 B block and stroke it up to 500ci, It fits better. So ... the B block would fit just as well in a 74. But the RB is taller which puts the exhaust ports higher up too. Im stuck buying another one lol. Whats the going rate of 440s over there? It was actually your block that got me thinking. I thought maybe you wanted to get rid of it and my mind wandered from there ...
and the 400 block is a tad lighter tooYes, This is why ma Mopar installed mostly 383' or B blocks rather than 440's or RB blocks in the A body. Lots of A bodies with 440's, out there, but it is a tighter fit. This is also why guys take a 400 B block and stroke it up to 500ci, It fits better.
IIRC the inner fender wells are part of the vehicle structure - once removed you will need to reinforce the front of the car - mine has a full roll cage in itWhat's the downside to removing the inner fenders like you've done, Mike?
no need for coil overs - mine still has the stock style front suspension with KH diskSo ... the B block would fit just as well in a 74. But the RB is taller which puts the exhaust ports higher up too. Maybe that causes more clearance issues?

They're pretty expensive compared to in the states but parts are pretty common. I see 906 heads for $200 pretty often and the occasional rotating assembly, also pretty cheap - cast ones. A lot of people modify them and the stock stuff ends up just laying around or being sold off cheap. Just like over there, I suppose.Im stuck buying another one lol. So i need to buy a bunch up and send over there? They're pretty expensive compared to in the states but parts are pretty common. Yup. Or build street engines and ship over. Then we're talking serious money. Not sure how many you can sell in a year but a guy I know builds and sells engines, mostly big blocks, all the time. A decent 440 is probably somewhere around $8,000 - $15,000 depending on configuration. So i need to buy a bunch up and send over there?
hmm..... whats core engine going for?Yup. Or build street engines and ship over. Then we're talking serious money. You mean a complete but stock 440? Prolly $1,500 - $2,500 if it turns around. Upper segment with trans. An empty block a few hundred bucks. Less with the damage you have, of course.hmm..... whats core engine going for?
So about double then. You mean a complete but stock 440? Prolly $1,500 - $2,500 if it turns around. Upper segment with trans. An empty block a few hundred bucks. Less with the damage you have, of course.
These are my guesstimates based on what I remember seeing in the mopar for sale group on Facebokk I'm in.
