Well, I finally found the information I was looking for (wasn't easy to find)

The 002/003 rear SS leaf springs I have are 150 lbs per inch spring rate. The .920 front torsion bars are also 150 lbs per inch. Perfect match!

I also debunked the "SS rear springs will make the rear sit with one side higher than the other" myth as far as I'm concerned.

According to Mopar, that happens only when using the P4120863/P4120864 combination and they call it out specifically. All other SS spring combinations are level at "standstill".

The first car show of the season for me is May 21st. It's the same show I took my car to last year and got bumped from the judging for not having a fire extinguisher. Not this year, I'm ready for Show and Judging. I'm determined to get a trophy from this thing. It's kinda local bragging rights to get one.

15 weeks from now until then. If I can get the suspension work finished in March with wheels and tires, do the detailing in April and shake down cruises in early May...I should be more than ready this time. :D
 
Ugh, Winter is trying to remind us here that it hasn't gone yet. Not terribly cold, but it's 31° and blowing at 20-30 mph giving a wind chill of around 15°.

A harsh change from the mostly 40-50° temps we've had for the past 2 weeks...Yuck :eek:

They are calculated differently. If you search, you can find the calculations to cross match them.


Torsion bars are at the pivot, where coil overs aren't...

so the torsion bar spring rate ratio is 1:1,

Where you have to take the distance from the center line of the spring to the pivot divided by the distance from the pivot to the lower ball joint to get the "at wheel" ratio compared to the spring ratio...

Since it is not a 1:1 ratio, the spring rate is much higher for coil overs, than torsion bars to get the same "at wheel" ratio...
