Stop in for a cup of coffee

Ok, I can probably just do distilled at this point. In the process of getting it home I added a lot of tap water. The stuff I drained out has only a very slight pink color..
Is the HOAT that different? Like once it's out, can you run different antifreeze?
Hoat is that different, and you can't replace it with something else once it's all out. The system is designed for it right down to the seals and the water pump. Try something else and you risk destroying the entire system. A lot of guys tried it in the early days and wrecked their cooling systems. I've only seen one or two replacements that worked and those coolants are way more expensive than the HOAT.

So how do they get away with labeling stuff as 'mixes with anything.'? I don't recall ever adding anything to the Journey before except maybe water. But I have definitly put that universal stuff in the Magnum. Probably be changing that in the next week now that know about it :BangHead:

I was finally able to talk with my supervisors about using them as a reference. They actually took it pretty well. The one supervisor seems sad, that I would leave him. He started a few months after I did, and relies on my a lot. Both though said I have to look out for my best interests. So that makes me feel good.

They get away with it until they get sued.

GM was using OAT coolant (Dex-Cool) and a lot of cars were wrecked when owners mixed the regular "green stuff" with the OAT coolant. It turns out they reacted with each other and caused the pressure caps on the system to stick open causing over heating and low coolant levels that wrecked engines by creating hot spots from low coolant. Interestingly, Prestone came out clean in the law suits because their coolant did actually mix with the OAT coolant in their tests and no one knew about the long term reactivity. GM took it in the teeth for not warning owners not to do it.

I always wondered about that.

gotta bunch of work to do as soon as it gets nicer - in fact, it's supposed to be near 50 come Sunday.... and I have a 3 day weekend - I just may spend most of it in the garage...
 Supposed to be nice here too, I'll be out there trying to re-organize.
