Hey Chris, I know you were wondering about the quality and strength of modular (pre-fab) homes. Check this out from Kiplinger's...

"In assessing damage to residential neighborhoods in Dade County, Fla., after 1992's Category 5 Hurricane Andrew, the Federal Emergency Management Agency reported "relatively minimal structural damage in modular housing developments. The module-to-module combination of the units appears to have provided an inherently rigid system that performed much better than conventional residential framing." Translation: Prefabs can hold up better in extreme weather conditions than traditional stick-built structures."

Now that is intriguing for sure, I would have assumed it to be the other way around. Thanks Dave. If I can get a modular log home, I'm heavily leaning that direction.

Right now, I got an empty Apartment above my Garage that was just vacated..Dealing with that a little.. Last tenant didn't leave too bad of a mess.. But they were young people... My Wife just looked at it and told me it needs Paint, Carpet, Trim, Yada, Yada....But, I think thats only because , the next tenant is her Girlfriend of 40 years that wants to get away from her ALCOHOLIC boyfriend !!
We Will See !!! Hell.. I might Just move in and be done with it...LOL

Why do you think I bought the house in the city.

Too bad :(.
I was picturing you with a little Dukeboy puppet buddy.
he's right though, I dont lend money to friends, nor do I receive money from friends. I'll buy stuff from friends, but not loan.

man, these log modular homes are no where near as much as i was expecting. There's some really good options in or below my budget range.
