Stop in for a cup of coffee

Can't see it on my IPad.
Do you want those hub caps I posted pics of yesterday?
Sorry you can't see it. It's Homer doing a Curly spin on the floor for 10 mins.

Yes, I would like to get those hubcaps if you are willing to part with them.

Ok give me about a week to box them up. There your's.

Well good for you! Looking forward to the reveal!
Thanks!

I think I have a full grip on it now...{deep breath}

So my company has decided that the contributions I make to the technology and core capability of the company are so significant that they are giving me a retention bonus equivalent to a full year's salary to keep my from leaving. (golden handcuffs)

Essentially, they will double my salary for the next year to keep me from leaving for another job. They will pay me a bonus of 25% of my salary every 3 months for the next year if I stick around...guaranteed.

Ummm...I think I will stay!

I knew I probably shouldn't have posted that...but after 30 years of clawing my way up from a lab assistant making $8/hr to where I am now, I'm damned happy with the rewards for all the effort...but somewhat stunned to get them. I never figured I would get this far.

Not too bad for a guy who left Art School to run an Automotive Upholstery business...only to restart in the Pharmaceutical business 6 years later.

It great to hear that a decent person is having success. Please tip your server just a little more than 20%, you will make him or her very happy and you can afford to :poke::lol:

I am making a buttermilk pie. It is baking now. I had it for the first time a few weeks ago, at a restaurant, it is sweet but light and it gets a golden crunchy/sugary layer on top. The recipe came from England to the South, it uses basic ingredients anyone would have on hand back then. Those are the kind of recipes I like to make, that have a history or story behind them and that have stood the test of time.

LOL! Your words ring truer than you know. You see, my wife was a career waitress for 17 years as I was fighting my way up in this business. For a very long time, she brought home more bacon than I did and worked in everything from diners to 5 star hotels on the Gold Coast in Oahu Hawaii. She was very good at it and worked her azz off for the pay she brought home. I know far too well the stories of those that stiffed her and those that rewarded her efforts.

Eventually, my salary grew to be enough to support both of us and she had been beat up enough and decided to leave the business and become a Personal Fitness Trainer specializing in the elderly. A few years later, she decided to become a full time Mom when she became pregnant with my daughter...and I supported it completely.

To this day, we both tip our servers (and even Pizza delivery folks) a minimum of 20% and often much more when they have earned it. We came from hard work and always pay back to those who are earning their living doing the hard work we once did ourselves. We know how hard it is to do what they do, and what it's worth when they do it well...and we aren't shy about paying fair value for a job well done. :)

You know it's a requirement that you post that recipe in full detail. :poke:

Will do, Dave! Let me make sure it turns out good first and then I'll be happy to. By the way, I am not at all surprised that you are generous with servers just as we have seen you being that way around here!

Good to know it works out for somebody as I look for my next job... At least I will leave the current one with some severance so I have a chance of not going backwards.
