Stop in for a cup of coffee

-
I've got a couple old cams from old 340 builds but that would make me do some head work, bump the compression and load the *** with some better gears. I'll wait til the package will actually work together well. For now she'll just be smooth and practical..

We're in middle of degreeing our cams. I have about 25 of them for a small block. So far we've gotten 5 done.... #-o

Once I get them figured out, then I can pick some for our next few builds...

everytime I go to do a "quick" engine re-seal......I end up feeling like I have to paint the engine......then I feel like it has to partially disassembled to be cleaned completely and have a good paint job.

then I end up getting tempted to replace parts like cams and such and then I figure I cant change a cam with out changing the cam bearings, I mean why not for great oil pressure.

Then I end up with a completely disassembled engine when it ran fine before I started.

so now I don't mess with them unless I need to fix something that is broken.

Timing chain, oil pump, recurved dist and gaskets is all she gets! (Intake and a 4 barrel since they're on the shelf).. won't get any deeper than that, even tho I'm dying to throw better parts at it!

watch out for the snowball as it catches speed on the slick down hill slope lol

Dang Rani, you were doing so good there, until you said that you end leaving it in the corner...

Get a quick refresh kit from Mancini and get-r-dun....

http://www.manciniracing.com/sealedpowerkit.html

But I like the way that you think...

Start with a quick clean up and paint turns into a quick refresh....

That's what happened with my son's 72 Challenger engine. We pulled it for a "quick fix", then checked our compression and found it lower than we wanted. Then found a set of heads with smaller combustion chambers to help get the compression back up. Now it's still out until we finish degreeing all of our cams and pick the best one for that engine...

We're getting one or two cams degreed per day. We just need to keep going until it's finished....

I argue with myself wayyyyy too much and worry about micro details wayyy too much to ever get anything done "quick"

usually I have to think and over think everything about 5 times before I actually a move. That's why I have a 440 that ran fine before I started messing with it and now its in a million pieces and I cant decide what I want to do with it. :evil3::evil3:

that's my time ....smell you all later....in dream land or something. I am going back to ZZZZZZZ lol

have an awesome day

Hard to fight the snowball, but i actually made a plan and I'm trying my best to stick to it. Engine has about 65k on it. Pretty clean inside. Never been opened up. Still had many original hoses on it. Water passages were kinda nasty but everything else looks just fine. Start with v8/904. Next step will be rear end. Then 4 speed conversion. Then i can worry about a 340 build.

I just think to do it now instead of put it off for later... :color:

Any of you want to buy a set of original 1970 valve cover gaskets?

You must include a price and location or your ad will be deleted.... :D

Ha ha Karl. I should have asked "how much is it worth". That way I can post a ad without really posting one.

Good morning. Rain moving in from the Atlantic for the next few days. I'm thinking with the super-moon, the fiasco we had last month, road to the island shut down due to flooding, will happen again. But there's nothing being said on the news about it.

Well, at least you have enough sense to see it coming, be prepared... :pale:

Hey Mitch, are you home yet??? :dontknow:

I met up with Mitch and his wife today and they checked out the cars and we had an ice cream cone at our local ice cream parlor... :icescrea:

Then they had to get back to the airport for their flight. :home:

(It took me an hour to get home in the traffic, but I made it...)

They are probably tired from all the traveling... :sleepy1: :sleepy2:
