Stop in for a cup of coffee

The little woman has been on Pinterest again. I took a louvered door off and expanded the opening when I got a new AC unit put in. She decided that door would make a great bench.. so i spent the day in the garage building a bench to go around said door.. Once she paints and antiques it, it'll probably look pretty cool..

Sounds nice.. Don't hear many family stories anymore that don't have some element of drama and bs.. Glad it's been good today..

Slow in the coffee shop tonight...

Still on the same page since I last checked in....

I just got back from helping the older boy deliver his bed and mini-fridge to his room for college...

Good evening folks. Had a nice afternoon fishing, caught a half dozen snapper blue fish. Also had a nice sunset.

Your a good dad.

Thanks...

He had a couple of friends lined up, but they backed out...

I'm glad that one of them did, I don't allow him and my son in my truck after what they did to it last time they used it...

My son had to make a huge production out of the fact that he had nothing to drive last winter because I still remember what they did...

I let him take his friend home in the sticks... His friend lives on a farm in Peotone... They promised to take good care of the truck and replace the gas they used... I get it back with 1/4 tank when they took it with over 3/4 tank, one mud flap knocked off, mud all over the driver door panel of the interior and a small dent on top of the fender and they wonder why I was mad.... :icon_fU: :icon_fU: :BangHead: :BangHead:

The story that the boy is sticking to is he was too tired to drive and Tiny drove to his farm... Then the next thing my kid knows, he gets jolted awake because Tiny took it 4x4ing in the fields... Then claims his friend wouldn't stop when he asked him to.... :bs_flag:

Personally I think they were both participants and he's throwing his friend under the bus... But regardless, I told the son that I let him drive the truck and he's responsible for whatever happens if he lets anybody else lets drive it...

I told the son my new policy: If he lets that kid drive my truck again, I will report it stolen and press charges... He's not allowed to touch any of my vehicles again... Period... :elmer:

Next time Tiny needs a ride back home from my house, he can call a taxi or walk...

Fool me once - shame on you; fool me twice - shame on me...

So Karl how close are you to the place that sold that lotto ticket.

About 3 miles...

I pass it most of the time, but don't patronize there because the owners drive a foreign SUV with license plate NIX BBQ... If they don't want to support American products, I will get my BBQ from somewhere else... (This is Chicago known for their BBQ, so there's plenty of places to get BBQ around here...)

I used to see them in the SUV all the time when I dropped my kids off at high school when they were younger...

Wow, that's really nice work there, Ben!

So, this is Monday ... I'm planning on starting 'work' on Wednesday, haven't confirmed that with my 'boss' yet. He starts today. The pupils show up next Monday and this Friday is teacher's conference day which I don't plan on attending - can't, even since we're going to Norway for my wife's company's 10 year anniversary.

So these are the last trembling hours of my summer holiday which started on June 16, IIRC. I kinda like this setup. :)

Once I drop off the little one at school, I plan on getting the calipers installed - with the brake hose bracket in place this time - and maybe bend a brake hose or two.

All that's left before I can go for a test drive then is:
- Steering column (it's just laying there on the floor of the car)
- Some kind of roadkill-style gas tank
- Brake piston pushrod
- Gas pedal and cable (I've got a newer style 'hanging' one that I want to try)
- Maybe a temp gauge?
- Bonus: Kick-down cable (Not likely, don't have much stuff to fab a bracket)

When I was under the car installing the brake distribution block, I noticed it has the driver's side muffler mounted. Seems I only disconnected the other one for some reason. Must have been when I took the pass. side head off for compression measurement. I think I'll remove that. I don't have anything to hold it up so I might as well run open manifolds.

More fun, too. :)

If fortue shines upon me, I could actually run the thing today! More likely tomorrow, though. Or - more likely - in October ...

I can go back and undo them if you'd like..
- and good morning to you too
Nah, I'm ok.

Trying to figure out how to clip the brake hoses to the bracket. Found a pic of that, too. I think I remember seeing clips like these somewhere in my stash.
