Stop in for a cup of coffee

He's only 25, but he's got a great head for old school stuff. I"m teaching him , engine assembly. He owns a 69 Judge, for this engine. He is an electrician by trade, and will be a Journyman soon. I'm happy to see young guys interested in old school things. He rents my Garage Apartment from me, so he loves it here....

Ok smart guys, not being sarcastic.
1982 318.
Had manual transmission. Just a pilot bushing.
Looking at transmission, the piolt is much larger than bore in crank.
Crank not stock? Or from older engine? View attachment 1715132057Some awful crude machining there. Now,i’m sure it will fit in my lathe to bore it out some.consider im in the wrong place to just go and buy what i need,so machining crank or torque is my option. I thought the torque would be smaller pilot. It appears not.
Options?
This is a good time to sort it out i think.
Thanks in advance...
Or suggest a thread i should jump into.
Hey tooljunke, are those holes in crank threaded?
If not , that's a 318 poly crank, for a cast iron torqueflight or stick trans only

As requested.

At the York stamp show yet today. More of a sale than show. We have 18 dealers this year. I decided to display some of my collection...

Yep. He is having a few issues putting it together right now. I hear swearing from the kitchen table. LOL Frustrating but you guys know how it is.
it'll be a pain to sort out. Lots of trial and error adjustments

So,am i screwed? Not threaded. 7/16” holes.

Where'd you get this engine again? If that's a poly crank like mentioned above, which admittedly I didn't think of , there's parts available and any LA 318 crank would fit and work in that block. My question is, do you have the heads? If so what heads were on it

Also, post a pic of this input/pilot you're talking about. Autos don't use the pilot bearings
I’m feeling dumber by the second. Theres a pic^^ a few posts up.

That the casting number we after?
I drove car into shop, pulled engine. It ran nice.
Was in a 59 dodge regent/manual transmission. Someone obviously went to a great deal of trouble to mate it to that transmission. Which i guess im trying to undo.
I think before i spend a dime on this i may just go look at a low mileage engine on kijiji. Or pop the 360 magnum in,efi and all.
Too many options.im calling it a wrap for now. Budget build out the window...

Take a pic of your block casting number. That's an early 80s head number. I'm wondering if someone didn't swap the poly heads out and put LA heads on it at some point. Being that it's out of a 59 with a manual transmission. That's likely a poly block and rotating assembly.

Its definetly an la. 4104230. Dated 1982.

The engine was transplanted into the ‘59. Someone put that crank in to mate it with the manual trans. There was no balancer,so it explains why.just a pulley and hub.
