Guys, a friend of mine is having the below issues with his 77 W200, 318

Ok guys I am at a total loss on my carb issue with my 77. Here is what all I have done. Rebuilt carb (Carter BBD, float set at 1/4", accelerator pump measured at 1/2"), new plugs, wires, cap, rotor, dizzy and now fuel pump. Timing set to about 8* BTDC. Idles smooth as glass. But falls flat at the hit of the throttle and trying to hold a steady rpm say around 2000. Ran fine before i monkeyed with the carb other than the accelerator pump was weak. Any input is greatly appreciated.
What is "about 8 * BTDC"? Used a light?

I think the timing is shot. Might be a bad chain/Cam sprocket.. Need to put a light on it.....
Have him pop the Dist. cap, turn the crank by hand, one way a little ,then the other. Watch the rotor. It should move with the crank movement, no slop..

A timing chain that's jumped one tooth will run as described. Start and idle fine and as soon as it's loaded will choke, spit, and sputter.

Yay! Saturday night Pizza!

We set the clocks back around dinner time tonight so we go to bed on the new schedule. This way, tomorrow and Monday are a little easier since we are on the new schedule already. We do the same thing in the Fall.
Smart...

I never understood why they do it on Saturday night. It makes more sense to me to do it on Friday night and give folks a chance to adapt before Monday morning. Weekend schedules tend to be more flexible and make it better able for people to adapt.

I guess i will be up an hour earlier....3 or 4. Thats too early.
Maybe i should take up drinking, may help me sleep.

Even AccuWeather is being cautious about the upcoming storm Monday night...

“The impacts along the I-95 corridor from Washington, D.C., to New York City will be determined by how close the storm tracks to the coast. The forecast has a low probability of accuracy at this point.

Even if the storm tracks far enough offshore, a little snow may still spread over Washington, D.C., on Monday afternoon and Philadelphia and New York City on Monday night. The snow that falls after sunset could create slushy or slick spots for travelers.

A track closer to the coast would bring more snow and mounting travel disruptions for the Tuesday morning commute to this section of the I-95 corridor.”
