Stop in for a cup of coffee

You mean like undercoating tar that's now falling off?

I got lucky this Barracuda. Arizona car and only had undercoating on the inner fenders. Much of it is still there. I do remove anything that's loose.

Like road tar that is quarter inch thick under it. No wonder it hasn't rusted out!!!

She just likes to die if I don't let it sit and idle a while.
It’s a slant, right? They really want to warm up before they go when it’s cold. Do you have the heat tube to the air cleaner from the exhaust mainifold? I always found them to make a big difference to heat the cold air and make it go better when it’s cold.

Since I figured folks would avoid 476, I took a chance and went south on it as far as I could before heading west. It moved quickly...but then I was in the mess of the gridlock on the secondary roads.

I didn’t make out too bad compared to some of my coworkers. I just got a text from one that is getting home now, 4 hours after leaving work. She tried going west first.
One of the few things I like about this town.. I got caught in rush half-hour once... Took like an extra 8 minutes to get home!

This is the Marlin...

Yep, she is a slant. And ya know... I have no idea about the heat tube. I will have to look, but I doubt it.

Yep, gotta warm it up.

A properly operating choke is VERY important.. And if you can make a preheat tube to the air cleaner function, you might find it bearable... But I've found my slanty is still a bit cold natured..

OH OH... local junkyard guy stopped in at work today. Said his dad had or might still have a 4 door dart that was abandoned behind his garage. They were gonna use it as a parts car. No idea what shape it is in or even if he still has it. But knowing Gene, it is still there. His son is gonna take some pics if it is.

Cool. Finding a donor is always handy.
Up here the “stove” is important.
My power wagon is impossible to drive when its cold.
I watched frost form at the base of carburetor as it warmed up one humid morning.
I put a remote start on it, took longer to get carb to work right than the install.

Wow. I knew frost could form on airplane ones.. never thought about it on cars.

and then make sure the flapper in the snorkel opens when the engine is running.
It's vacuum 'motor' that opens the valve. A thermostatic valve will know to close the flapper when the air termperature gets too warm.
Googling it as we type lol!
