This one helps too. It's the manifold heat control valve or heat riser and it will be in the exhaust section of the shop manual.And the big flippy flopper on the manifold. They tend to rust solid...

If you need a new exhaust manifold, there is a place near Detroit that sells new ones for $200...

The thermostatic switch is in the air cleaner. Somewhere around 95 F, it closes.
As long as there is manifold vacuum in the line to the snorkel, the flapper is up, letting in warm air from around the exahaust manifold.
