Yep saw them talking about that last night. Should be able to find a used one, clean it up and go.
 
Yes think it will. I'll keep it as a back up. I have a few extra things.
 
I have never been able to find a good used one and that was in the 80's! My 74 was cracked also. Pulled a interesting distrib from the old box yesterday to start making a dent in them turned out to be a 57 Desoto 8. Came out nice but of course the vac advance took a crap after cleaning it! Actually was able to get one on flea bay.

Friday it was running like a bag of
Doo-doo.
Four spark plugs loose.Like 2 turns loose. Last guy did not tighten them. At all. The gaskets werent crushed.
Think it effed up a coil. Have to scan it again. Too bad my expensive scanner doesent cover it. It does cover the frontier, so im almost covered.
 
Wow those were a car. Saw one on Barrett this weekend a Desoto Adventure that was a boat....sold for 300K
 
I picked up a big lot of autolight/solarspark/Chrysler distribs last year mostly 40-50's, just getting to them now think I have most of the ignition parts and this weekend going to Carlise to meet a guy that has a bunch of vac advances for them. Hate to lay out money to sit on the shelf but have to grab nos when you can. Still blows me away I have info on these old ones.
 
Well the number of old 50's Chrysler that went to the show made me realize there were more out there than I thought. The longer they sit on the shelf, the more expensive they become.
 
Whats funny those distributors average 30-70 for a core, you would think a lot more. Last year at Carlisle I had one that had a cracked housing was just going to give it away there were a lot of lookers and people looking for the older ones so want to get some done.
 
I'd have a few. I won't be surprised if you took a few, especially the big show and sell out.
 
Sold a ton of distribs last year prob 50 or so, plan on bringing all I can get dome been cherry picking the cores. Last year the 70-72 b with the electrick vac retard went fast sold them way to cheap. Have quite a few of them now along with some tach drives done and the usual assortment. Prob bringing 150 or so and all the sun testers will be a load for sure. Prob a bunch of nos caps and rotors also and some points and distrib leads actually found a score on good aftermarked old stock ones. NOS go for 50 and up crazy for a wire.
 
And I am hoping it isn't the actual manifold cracked and is just a failure of the gasket. Probably original gasket on her as she had the original plug wires.

Maybe one thing about buying at a swap is seeing it in person. Seeing it, looking it over, a person knows what they are getting.
