Stop in for a cup of coffee

Must be the weekend for em to smoke... brought mine home from camping yesterday with passenger rear tire smoking... brake locked up on her.

Hmmm so I left the pool party before anyone got too crazy but as I was pulling in at home, I smelled a little smoke and the Fury when I turned the key to off, the engine kept running, finally I jiggled the gear shift and it shut off, popped the hood and fire extinguisher in my hand and I noticed the ground battery terminal was melted off and a little smoke around the battery!! I didn't touch it. What would you do?
I have no idea... I'd probably cry lol. But I am a girl... Then I would start looking to make sure it was getting good surface connection to where ever you have it grounded to? If it looked good I would then come to FABO and do a search called ground wire melted. But that is just me lol.

I would call a plumber.

Haha Mitch no I did not run and scream like a girl. Disconnected the positive cable but neg is broken off! I'll call the tow truck in the morning. At least I made it home and the car didn't go up in flames.
pic please ...
if it burned where the cable attaches to the battery connector that may be the entire problem. bad connection will do that. probably just needs a new connector or just put same one back on it not messed up

Loose maybe. Doesn't look all furry and corroded. On second inspection there is a little growth in there, by far not the worst I've seen. Starts with little arcs as the gap gets bigger so do the arcs. Melt City.

yuck. thought you meant the cable. never saw a terminal do that. How old is that battery? Looks like a lot of corrosion on both terminals. Unless there is some explanation I am not aware of, I would assume that was there when you just had it in the shop. Sorry to say, I would recommend you get a new mechanic.

What brand of battery? A loose clamp could cause excessive resistance and melt the post. New battery and cables and have the system tested.

Just got the battery 2 months ago. Maybe a faulty battery?
