Get the book...trust me. I first used it back in high school and I am still using the lessons I learned from it to this day.

What you are trying to do on your own is actually one of the lessons. The trick is to place the source image upside down and copy it by hand that way. It forces your brain to focus on the spacial relationships, colors and tones rather than the content of the image.

The first time I followed the lesson of using my non-dominant hand to draw an image and found it turned out better than the same one using my dominant hand...I was blown away.
maybe I should try to duplicate a different filter....not the Crayola one

I think build threads are good because you document time. I had no idea so much time has gone since the last time I did anything to the valiant.

With a sock monkey in it. On dirt of course.
The vision was a kart similar to the above flying through the air in a vertical fashion with a sock monkey trailing behind it with one hand on the steering wheel and the rest of him in the breeze. Caricature style.

I think I came in on the middle of a conversation you were having with yourself...
 
I do a sketch for layout on welding projects,ruler or a straight edge. Soapstone is my crayon..they tasteless.
 
The floor. There is rarely a square foot of bench i can use.
Well usually one day every 2 weeks. That i clean benches.
 
@halifaxhops ,he has some autopar books,but wont let them out of his sight. Says send him part numbers and he will id.
That being said, i told him it was like a pallet of parts, so i dont know how far i want to press my luck...

Might be worth asking if you can photograph the pages of the book. He keeps the book and you get the info.

Thats exactly what i was thinking.
Have to connect with him in person to negotiate a deal. He has a complete pair of doors that he wants to unload. And a pillar moldings.
