Stop in for a cup of coffee

OK MOPAR buddy called tonight and was telling me the problem he has.
He has a 70 Dart he's spent the past four years doing a ground up build.
Engine is a 360. He's started it a few times during the build and ran fine.
He got the car finished Saturday, and was headed to his first cruise night. Stopped for gas, got in turned the key and got one click off the started and nothing else.
Tried again and again one click.
Had a guy give him a push popped the clutch and drove it home.
He's check the ground all ok.
Put in two different starters and relays same problem.
He tries to start it off the relay with a screwdriver, nothing.
Battery is new and ok.
Checked everything else all appear working properly.
Starter is a mini type that turns quicker and used on the newer trucks...as he explained
He's stumped, thought maybe someone might have an idea.
Try manually rotating the engine a quarter turn and try again. It may be a bad spot on the flywheel and the starter can’t engage the teeth to it.

I'll pass all this on to him.
He's a really smart car guy, surprised he was stumped.
He's older, maybe time is starting to catch up with him.
For sure though he wants to get that car running and go to cruise night.
I'll let you all know what it was.

Well, Tim hasn’t replied yet...so I will post my second image suggestion for his banner and see what folks think. It is designed to be 4’ tall and 8’ wide and go across the top of the car at shows.

And....just in case anyone is interested...reproducing this at large scale from a fuzzy little image at the top of the webpage and make it suitable for an 8’ wide banner was no small task.

Jeez :BangHead: more work madness. The top tier of the company (4 people) that make over 2 million bucks in annual compensation combined can’t seem to figure out how to execute basic things, or figure out a strategy for how to do it.

It’s like I am playing 3 dimensional chess with a bunch of checkers players. I am six moves ahead of them at all times and they can’t seem to be able to tie their own damned shoes...much less run the Company.

It just keeps getting stupider.

Christmas in July around here ...I got both console set ups

The first one was from moparmatt200 and the second was a lesser known fABOer who turned out to be quite a gentleman.

the one from moparmatt is a 69+ for an automatic ….that is going in my 72 Duster

The second is from FABOer ( I cant remember the name) is a 4 speed console for a 66/7 Cuda which is where it's going....in my cuda.

Neither setup is perfect and neither one is 100% complete, both were expensive. I am not complaining because one has to be realistic, these are very old 50 year old parts. They are not falling out of trees and they can very much be restored and used.....at least it's something to work with :)

So all in all despite the expense, I am VERY happy and I will be giving 2 sellers positive feedback :)

I am not really excited about using a inland shifter.

I have heard mixed reviews about them.

I figure, don't bash it till you try it and I am going to try it out and then make a decision to replace it with a HURST or leave it.

I have never driven with an inland before.

Detroit Muscle has the inserts for both of those as an FYI.

Well, Tim likes the second image so I am pushing forward to get it cleaned up and printed as a banner for him. 4’ x 8’ is a helluva big piece.

I do enjoy helping folks here with my art skills and can’t wait to see the finished product!

OK, if he tried jumping the starter solenoid , and it did not work.......it eliminates the NSS. Starter or Batt or Ground. Replaced the starter? Not likely that....

NSS he has a 4 speed.
He can push the car and pop the clutch and it starts up and runs fine.
Try to start it off the starter one click with nothing else.

Coffin consoles are spendy pieces. I saw a nice 4 peed console at Carlisle for $800 and it didn't include the shifter mechanism. Looks like you got a nice one though.

I would never trust a “new” battery unless i load test it myself.
Customer towed his truck to me refusing to believe his battery was bad. It was hard for him to accept the fact it was bad. Even after i tested it.

Had that a couple of times myself. Morning TJ
Morning.
After being in the parts business and then moving into repairing vehicles i think i have seen every possible failed battery scenario.
Except for one. The exploding in my face scenario.
Closest i came to that was with a closed hood.

Man I almost had the score of a lifetime yesterday, Found a auto parts store that was going out of business on CL, sent them a message about Mopar stuff if they had any. Guy replied call me at noon. I did he informed me he just gave ALL his parts to the guy that contacted him a bit earlier. He has to be out by tomorrow. Dam just a hour late!

A miss.
That sucks, Ray.
My younger brother was telling me about a guy with a collection,chev/mopar stuff.
Thinking about dumping it.
So i may have to go see what it is.
In the next few weeks i will have a couple empty storage buildings, i need to decide which one becomes mopar world.
Stock all my spares in one place would be a good idea.
