Waiting for sun to come up,then off to get some real coffee.

Man a cat 4 hurricane going to hit land in the Carolinas. I am glad I am a thousand miles from there. Been through a couple of them not fun at all.

I have a good friend who lives in Charlotte.
Lives in the country and has spent the past couple days getting ready for the storm.
Not his first one.

Living on LI I have been through my fair share of them. Used to hate going to the summer house and bringing everything upstairs, used to get 3-4' of water in the house every time. Amazing the walls were good afterward had a weird sort of wallboard almost like a cardboard used on boats and would dry out flat. Good planning on Great Grandpa there.

My battle from BCT lives in Columbia, told him if he needed to, he can come to my place for a few days but he's already rented a cabin in Gatlinburg for the next week and decided to go on an impromptu vacation.

Hey, for you guys that have shipped stuff to me, did the company, whether USPS or UPS/fedex give you any grief as to my address? I've had 5 items from 5 different places, 3 commercial, 2 private party all have trouble by each of those three in the last month regarding my address

A friend’s family lives in a flood zone.
Their house has been rebuilt 4 or 5 times to my knowledge. The last go round they raised house 4 or 5 feet.
Last time it flooded someone should have dropped a match on the way out.

Never, just have to write the addy in crayon so they can read it.
Apparently the shippers are saying my address doesn't exist. I've checked with my county clerk last week, as well as my local PO, my address hasn't changed. Been the same since the County renamed the roads in 1926

I'm actually surprised they can get insurance on it. Usually after 2-3 flood rebuilds in a short time frame, insurance will be forced to buy them out, then they have to move or buy federal issues flood insurance

Speaking of packages,Ray i will let you know when it lands.
As of aug 30 it passed through customs. So 11 day in canada and it hasnt reached its destination.
Tracking says in transit.
Canad post about to strike, likely no one will notice.
I agree with unions, but not the way they protect the useless.

I feel it should happen after the first one.
You, I, and the others are the ones paying for it when our premiums go up.

We had the FEMA insurance was actually pretty cheap a few hundred a year. Think the only thing we had to do was put hurricane shutters on the front windows.

Crazy how the shipping works to you the USPS pays to the border then CAPS from the border to the destination that is why it cost so much. Was talking to the guy with the Charger about it he is a postmaster and explained it to me a few weeks ago.

A few years ago they did an extensive drainage project a couple blocks from the creek. They re-did the flood maps and all of a sudden one small corner of my house is in the flood plain....WTF!!
I've lived here through the 500 year rain in 93 and never got a drop in the basement.
My house is paid for so I'm not required to have flood insurance.

$300,000 in repairs last time.
Gubbernmint is pretty spineless when it comes to this.
Insurance companys wont touch any house in breezy point.
