Stop in for a cup of coffee

Does your guard unit train for wildfire?
Yes/No. part does but they're for on base stuff only. And that's only maybe a dozen people or so. The state has some units that are designated for such missions but I've never been in any of those

I'll pass. I've got 3 already haha. Now one thing you might do, check with the local dirt track racers. They like the poly block because they can bore it .1 and use LA heads on it, giving them a nearly indestructible bottom end
if you change your mind before April 1 ….its yours ...FREE.

The reason I say April is because the 440 that is going to replace is not built yet and it is a few down on the list. Right now I am working on a 360 for a duster and then its the 68 fury and then the slant for the valiant......then the 66.....

do you even have that 64 polara anymore??

will this 66 poly transmission work on an LA ??? is it a 727 ???

IMO CL is for unloading stuff locally in exchange for selling at less than max possible value.
I learned not to post anything for free, even if I give it away. I'm sure there's other ways to reduce the scammers, theives and those who just waste your time.
For a poly engine, I'd say you've got to be patient and work auto listings, car clubs, shops with a higher than average percentage of people who might want one.
I unloaded a '65 727 on the transmission shop for partial value on a later one. They were glad to have one in their stash and I got rid of an oddball, sorry rarity, taking up space.
Been dealing with this on some random stuff. Don't want to deal with shipping so I put on CL. A lot of it is either going to end up at Salvation Army (if they want it) or trash, scrap metal...

Yep I still have it. Worked on it some Saturday actually.

And yea, the 66 poly trans will work just fine on an LA. If you're going 360 though, make sure you get the correct flex plate

As for whether is it's a 727, you'd have to ID it as normal. They did put 904s behind them a couple years

I need to be doing more of that (getting rid of stuff).
Around here there's a couple of other options. One is list serve called free cycle. I'm not on it, but a friend of mine was.

that is good to know just so I don't toss that poly trans.
The fury is getting a 440/4speed so I am not sure what to with the poly transmission, but knowing it will work with an LA will make me set it on a pile of other autos that may get used …..someday

I tossed a 904 lock up a few years back. :BangHead::BangHead::BangHead::BangHead::BangHead::BangHead::wtf:

I've been debating the 440 route myself for my 64. But I just can't justify two big block cars haha

Makes sense. Most states have interstate and federal cooperative agreements. That's usually first choice for additional wildland firefighters. Well, more like second. Local private (contract) crews first.

I would be happy with a poly in a early B body.

Since those fires to the south burnt up my plans to go see sprint cars, I think the ANRA Nostalgia Drags at Famoso next weekend will move up the priority ladder. :steering:

if I had your cars I would put a small block in the dart and the 440 in the polara.

No reason to not have a big block in a C body because there is room for it. So nice to sit on the inner fender and have your tool tray and room to get in there and get hands on everything.

I have had big block A bodies before and they are a pain in the *** even for a smaller person who can really reach in. I am having fun with this duster and a 360. Headers on a small block are still a pain even at that.

Dart is too far along to go away from the 440. And the 64 is a B body. That side, plenty of room for a 440

yup...same here with the exception of wagons.
And then the 2 door wagons are especially cool.
