Saw this winter cheer in the news this morning
We hit -17 in Dec 2022 here in southern Indiana, wind chill though pushed it to -45, for two days we had 40-60 mph winds non stop. Only a couple
Inches of snow. Course, that happens when I was rebuilding the jeep suspension in an unheated shop, and then the Cummins ate itself internally.

wow and -17*F here today and I'm not going to complain about how cold it is. LOL
Curious, how thick is your alls insulation up there? I can’t imagine your codes allow the same R value as we do and 2x6s with baffling barely meets code here for R values

Not sure what it is here Chris but my old farmhouse was 2x4 and not much insolation in walls.

Cliff decides he's going green at Schrader's Chevron in beautiful Barstow, Ca. We switch our windshield washing technique from spray on or a sponge with paper towels to the sponge/squeegee combo common today. Winter mornings brought new challenges  The night shift forgets to bring the squeegees in for the night, morning crew finds them frozen in the tub of soapy water  Late in the night shift, squeegee goes to the windshield of the Impaler just off the I 15 to Vegas and the fluid from the sponge freezes instantly on the windshield  "Aren't you going to clean that off?" says the 65 yr old slot machine junkie behind the wheel. "Start your car and turn your defroster on. I'll get to it when it thaws. :D" Car starts, out the driveway it goes

Coldest I’ve seen in Michigan was -27 driving to work one morning about 10 years ago. The thought did occur to me during that trip that “what the hell am I doing???”

When I worked in the oil fields here hauling crude oil from the pumps to the pipeline or rail.
We had a pile of truck drivers that came up here from down South and was a real mess in the wintertime with gelled up trucks all over the place. Told them to use #1 diesel fuel in the winter but they didn't listen.

Morning, when I was driving had a lot of drivers that didn't heed the warning of #1 or a good additive. I always ran #1 and power service fuel treatment, gelled up once in the Dakotas -38.
