69 440 Cuda, if I can recall, you had information in a letter from 1968 that announced the mid year 440 'cuda that came out shortly before production in Dec of 1968. Was that you, or someone else?

Took me a minute but I found it...

As per Chrysler Performance 'Plymouth Division [November 1968]

A limited production of 1969 'Special Package' 440 'Cuda cars will be built in December 1968,
to be made available for the 1969 racing season, and will be available prior to both the AHRA and NHRA Winter nationals.

The 440 'Cuda cars (440/375 HP) cars will fall into the 1969 C/SA (NHRA Stock Class)
or SS/GA (NHRA Super/Stock Class).

The Fastback 440 'Cuda will have a weight of #3310 lbs., and be made with an
automatic tramsission "only", and large drum brakes 'only".

Currently, the cars will be built in the 'Fastback' only model, and with a 727 Automatic
tramsmission. Plans for the '440 Special Package' to be made avaialble in the Hardtop Coupe
or Convertible have not yet been released.

There are no plans to make available a 4-speed manual transmission to these '440 Special Package' cars.

Currently, these cars have a Scheduled Production Date, and will be made available
in a limited production run.

As you can see by the Announcement Letter, that they had originally planned
to put 11" Drum Brakes on the {Front} only.

They also must have changed their mind quickly on the coupe (notchback) variant, as the first run of SPDs was a month later.
