Howdy,
This is crazy!! I can’t figure out how to install these things. What’s the secret sauce for these mamber jambers?
I’ve destroyed a few and I don’t want to damage the car. Anyone have any tips? I’m feeling kind of defeated lol.

thanks!

Take the plastic part out of the metal. Put metal in, put plastic into metal part.

This is what I used on my 67. It has a 3rd part that I removed also before installation that spreads the metal clip and keeps it spread and locks the plastic in place

mine is a 69. the spring clip just won't fit. so annoying. I’m thinking two options:file the openings a bit more to accomdate the spring clip or try one of the plastic style like this. For Mopar '69-74 Headlamp Headlight Adjuster Aiming Mounting Hardware Dodge Plym | eBay

I wouldn't file the openings, you may never get a proper fit and have to repair back to original. Be patient hopefully you'll get the correct ones. Mine went in and seem a little wiggly but do the job so far.(68 Dart) I think I got them on Ebay.

Try a different supplier...DMT, Rock Auto, RT Specialties??
OKay I’ll try that.. these I bought from Classic Industries. They look like the originals but just don’t fit. They started to bend in the sheet metal as I applied as much force as I would dare. There’s just no give between the plastic and top/bottom springs So metal clips doesn’t compress.

the ones that Dana linked above look like the ones i have (used ones) laying around. I dont think there is metal in mine? but they are just laying loose in my toolbox. What about going to a local parts store in the "help" section?

**edit** the ones you linked, not Dana

You could try the 66-67 type I think the hole is the same shape / size, as the fender in the photos below is a 74 up fender on my 67 (long story)

Here are photos of how my 67 work. (I was going on memory in my earlier post)

Use socket to press the metal part down use your hand to keep back pressure so not to bend the support

On a side note the small screw holes next to the square holes that the bezel retainers should go in graphically illustrates the difference between a 74 up fender and a 67 fender. (wish I had known that BEFORE The body work and paint)

The Dorman set I picked up from the help section worked like a champ! they wiggle quite a bit a first but tighten up very nice once torque is applied.

Thanks everyone!

for the record these will work like a champ as the openings are the same. Thanks!
