Only you know if its right to sell the bike or not. Which do you like better, the bike or the car? Having the bike isn't going to make you miss time with your family any more than not having it since it's you, & ONLY you who decides how you spend your time & where your priorities are. I have a Harley that I love to ride but haven't put more than 300 miles on it in the last 2 summers because of my family obligations. But when I do get on it it's my little reward. The only reason I may sell it is to help pay for my son's tuition. It's up to you. Do you think you will enjoy the car more than the bike? Then you may want to sell it. If not, & if there is no other reason, keep it.

As for the marriage issue, I hate to tell all you guys here but once you bring a child into this world you are FOREVER attached to that childs mother! Like it or not! You will have to deal with her the rest of your life because you share the child. If you think otherwise you are just kidding yourselves. Keep in mind that in the childs eyes there is no difference if you split up as BF/GF or if you get divorced legally. The fact is to the children Mommy & Daddy don't love each other any more & we aren't together as a family. Period! Personal belongings don't mean ****! The purpose of a marriage is to affirm that commitment between you both that is the foundation for the family structure that is needed. If we all just only listened to the people who ***** about things we'd never buy or do anything. We wouldn't buy cars: I'd never buy another Dodge, that thing was nuthin' but trouble! We wouldn't buy houses: Every time I turn around I'm putting more money into this place & my taxes keep going up! Funny how we jump at lame reasons & point to other guys situations when it come to marriage. It's really more about how much you want to invest of yourself into things rather than what your afraid to lose. Marriage isn't for everyone, but some of the excuses here are ridiculous!

Your baby needs a Daddy. Sell the bike. I rode for bikes 30 years and just sold my 2004 Wide Glide which I bought brand new. I drove semis for 30 years. Learned and practice the Smith System of driving. So why the change of heart. CELL PHONES!! If as many people were getting killed by guns the anti would have their panties in a big friggin knot. What are they waiting for?

One of my relatives just rear end someone. Property damage thank God. What happend? She dont remember. Right. I know.

As far as marriage. To a child there is nothing more important then seeing THAT bond between a mother and father.

"Marriage" - Betting someone half your s**t that you'll love them forever.

I always advocate keeping a bike around.

However, were I to face parenthood (We can all pray that it never happens), I'd go strictly to a track bike. Far less risk and a lot more fun.

Sell the street bike, you can get back into it when your kid is old enough to do that with you.

Got rid of my bike when I bought my house. It was a tramatic experience but after thinki.g about it I am much better off with all of the crazies on the road these days. Good luck with the Valiant.

the kids and life got in the way of my cars.... so i got rid of them.. but kept building cars for others... sooo once the kids got off the payroll(18). the cars kept coming.. i don't regret one thing about it.. life is good..and the mrs. is extremely happy..
imho, sell the bike.. spend time with the family..

I'm a car NUT but like my bikes. The car and bike are paid for so they cost nothing to store. I also started a family and have only made a quick fun beater for cheap. The prize rides wait for there day. I can wait. Enjoy the bike while you wait.

Exactly what 72bluNblu said^^^^

Its like when you both marry everything changes for the negative direction. I don't know how to explain it. I'm sure there will be some that say "Oh it got better actually." Yeah that's because they are hen pecked and better not say anything that don't agree with the wife. My foreman was bragging that he and his wife have never had a argument. I and my coworkers said he kisses her *** probably. I was riding with my foreman in the company truck and he stopped by his house for a few minutes. He invited me in to meet wife. It was absolutely spooky how his demeanor changed while he was within her presence. Even when she would call him on the phone he would go from manly man to a pussy cat. Nah... that kind of living is not for me bra!

Ax, you da man. Funny stuff right there.

Here is my 2 cents, I raised my 2 boys on my own for the most part. Their mom is well....anyway, I got a deal on my 2nd bike and had the itch so I went and bought it...didnt cost much I think about $1200...then after a year or so I thought seeing as how it was me, Garrett and Connor I thought it would be better to sell it and buy an aluminum fishing boat so the 3 of us could be out in it together. When I told my oldest/garrett I was going to sell it he said NO, "you probably wont get another bike dad!!" Well I sold it, bought the boat..no longer have the boat but spent a lot of time in it...I do got the itch for another bike and another boat though...LOL. Sell the bike this isnt about wife/girlfriend etc...its about having 2 kids and you can put them in the back of the Valiant...Good luck

I have friends with bikes that have kids that are close to the same age as mine.... Their bikes stay in the garage while I put the two car seats in the Dart and enjoy the car with the whole family. My girls are turning into little gear heads too....

My vote it dump the bike and get the car on the road and enjoy the time spent.....

I have owned many toys. Boats, wave runners, quads, dirt bikes, sports cars, muscle cars and off road rigs. There is nothing like hopping on a bike and carving up a smooth paved canyon road IMO.
Our old cars are cool, but when I need to get away for an hour to clear my head then there is nothing better than a bike ride.

Marriage isn't for everyone, but some of the excuses here are ridiculous!
Yep.....can't help but wonder if some of the folks that are spewing these excuses realize that it takes 2 for a marriage to work........or fail......

Welp, I've decided to do as I was thinking. Sell the bike, spend the time around the house with the new family, Boy that's a different feeling saying that, and renewing my passion for MOPARS, which is what got me into motors of ALL kinds anyways.

I'll enjoy the rest of the year on the bike, but come spring 2013 the ole gal will be up for sale. 6-7,000 bucks is going to go a looooong way with a car that already has a running (with minor work) motor and case for trans rebuild. I suppose i'll throw down a list of what I have planned.

The motor in the car was built more than a decade ago, but i only put maybe 10k miles on it before it was parked. 318 bored .030 or .040. Going to do a cam change and i THINK I have a set of 360 heads i can rebuild and slap on.
Rebuild the Carter AFB 650 thats sittin on top.
rebuild the trans.
leaf spring relocation
i'd love to get an 8 3/4, but damn thos things are expensive, so maybe an 8 1/4 or maybe baterdize it a little and slide in an 8.8 ford.
wireing harnesses need gone thru completly, I saw laysons sell the dash harness and forward, maybe i'll just do that instead of tracing old, brittle and cracked wireing.
fix the lower rear qtrs.

I figure I can doo all this easily for 7 grand.

Thanks for all your oppinions, FABO is one helluva site!!!

Never put all your eggs in one basket, that would include your hobby. Keep the bike, work on the car. this way you're never bored, and when things get tight, you can jump on the bike for a change of pace, or to clear your head.
Variety is, indeed, the spice of life.

There's no turning back now for him

(With the perfect hair
And the perfect wife
And the perfect kids
And the perfect life
I will finally be somebody...)

Work, buy, consume, die

IMO ditch the bike and build the car. I've had 3 Harleys and loved being on two wheels. However on October 5th 2011 I was struck by a drunk driver on the interstate. Skidding across the asphalt at 70 mph isn't much fun. Shattered every bone in my left hand, fractured my left ankle and left much of my upper body without skin. It's a miracle of God I'm alive, both the paramedics and firefighters said they've never seen anybody live through that situation. Three reconstructive surgeries, a bone graft, and two skin grafts later I'm almost back to normal. I'll never take the chance of not seeing my wife or my little boy again.

Were you wearing leathers when that happened?

Yes, I was wearing the high dollar crap they sell at the Harley shop. It pretty much shredded to nothing on initial contact with the pavement. But I don't see much leather of any kind holding up to that kind of impact. I was running 70, the cops estimated her speed at 85 plus so who knows how fast my body was moving when it hit the ground.

That Harley leather is a joke! I wear a full racing suit with add on armor when I ride my bike. Can't get any better than a full suit.

Sell the bike, you can always buy another one later when you get the bug again. My kids are almost grown, so I have a little more spare time. Last year I bought the bike that I've wanted since 1984. We spent last winter completely going through it. Now I can go to classic car and bike shows!!

cool bike rz 350 right? i had a bunch of rd 350s and 400s back then love theroll up wheelies

I dress for the slide not for the ride as well.

It's hot but I've got to wear it.

I don't wear a track suit but always wear my armored jacket regardless of how hot it gets. I can't believe the people I see riding in tank tops, shorts, and even flip-flops!! Retards.... at least the dumb ones remove themselves from the gene pool.
