Trick Flow 440 heads, The Real Deal?

-
I'm working on a new design for the intake gaskets. I'm going to use a valley plate with some little "bat wings" that I built to seal the intake to the valley. The bat wings have a bend at the bottom that gives me a place to make a nice seal with some RTV. I'm thinking this will seal up the motor really well and allow me to easily swap intake manifolds on the dyno.

Hi there guys.
Question to Andy F and other members with hands on.
I have some indy ez/Modern 308cc heads on my 493.
I built few years back. Great heads to make power, mine a mid 248/254 roller (comp)
duel plane indy,950 pro systems, 2 inch hooker 685hp 6400rpm 660 lb/ft 4400rpm.
I have been building engines for 25 years and have not seen the following
After only 1500 miles Max! i pulled the engine out to detune and found the
valves were not sealing. (No lean condition driven with o2) Turned out the seats distorted from being to close to each other. I had 2 very reputable head guys here in melbourne Australia look at them for 2nd opinion and 1 was actually CHI who make very nice cylinder heads and another that does touring car heads.
"Conclusion" seats to close and to deep, valve contact to close to edge.
The idea was thrown around to re seat and turn down exhaust valves but there is not enough material under seats.
So now im looking towards these new 270cc trickflows due to be released.
Can the trickflows be opened to max wedge so i can use my intake manifold?
Can the Indy valley plate work with these heads?
About time somebody stepped up to the plate and made a true OOTB head for bb mopars.
Thanks

Good question!
Welcome aboard!

I have been reading stuff on this forum for a few years now and wanted to poke my nose in and see if anybody else has had indy head issues.
Looking at them there has to be more.
Called indy and they said get a new head guy and that they had no clue.
Thing is i understand and can see the issue, these heads are set up for maximum flow not reliability. The seats overlap (which is not uncommon) but there so thin that you can see the heat marks right in the middle.
Tried calling Modern, and never had an answer after 3 weeks of calling in the morning there. I emailed them and they said they would call, still waiting.
Not expecting anything, just want people to hear my story
Cheers

LOOKS GOOD.
THAT SIMILAR TO THE INDY VALLEY PLATE?

Indy has the worst reputationin the performance industry I beileve.

all i know is their customer service absolutely sucks, right up there with AT&T. They are rude, if you ask questions, they just tell you to go to their website and then proceed to hang up. Yeah, not buying anything Indy from them. Although I do have a set of their valve covers laying around

600 bucks for valve covers?!

The first few sets I had built cost a lot more than that! Plus I had a lot of time invested in figuring out the dimensions and do the CAD drawing. R&D isn't cheap on these old engines.

Any chance you be willing to make a set to sell? I would love to be your first customer for this setup. It looks like it offers the best of all worlds. A removable plate to get at stuff in the valley and a sure seal at the base of the intake. PM IF this is possible.

I have a couple extra valley plates and batwings on hand if you want to buy a set. I added some extra machining to the valley plate to reduce weight and make it look a little more "exotic". Or if you want the plate in the picture above with the removable center I can sell you that one. That was a prototype so I can make you a good deal on it.

that is pretty cool. Should do one with the Mopar "M" or just Mopar on it.

I will take the prototype one. Just PM me payment details and I can get you the cash and my address to ship it to. It is for an RB, correct?

Just wondering where we stand on this? I am still interested in your prototype if it fits an RB motor. If not I would be interested in commissioning you to do one that would work for a 440 block. Let me know please.

B & RB valley plates with an inspection plate are a stock item for me. I've sold those for years and they are probably in stock at Mancini or Hughes.

The solid plate with the CNC pocket machining is a new item. That one is B motor only at the moment but I could design an RB version without too much trouble.

I'm not sure how you made the end plates.I was looking at valley pan. Thinking I could cunt the ends off and used them. But I'm worried the metal is to thin and would lose the seal of the valley plate edge. Can I buy all the pieces through you
