Very nice!!!

Thanks,

Made some big changes over the winter and cant wait to see what it will do. That picture was with a mild hydraulic cam 360 on pump gas.
Now it has a 394 solid flat tappet cam with Trick Flow heads on methanol.

Very nice looking truck. What did it run with the the old engine. I am building a 96.

It went 11.40 in the 1/4. Don't get to run 1/4 very often anymore and it went 7.08 in the 1/8. Race weight is 3685. I'm 180lbs.
Your truck should be a good bit lighter.

Wow sounds like a great running little engine. What were your 1/8 mile mph with it. My engine with the EQ heads ran 7.16 at 96 in the 1/8 ,in a 94 extended cab dakota. But I think it was weighed reduced to 3200 pounds with driver. I really hope my 96 dakota sport weighs less than 3520 pounds lol . But I am a big boy. Lol here are a few picks of my pro junk yard Dakota.

94 MPH.
You definitely will be a good bit lighter.
Mine has full interior. Radio and power windows, locks and mirrors.

Wow very impressive truck you have. What size header are you useing? I have Hooker super comp headers on mine. But they are only 1x5/8 tube. With the trick flows I was wondering if I would gain any by going to a 1x3/4 inch tube or maybe even a 1x7/8. But if I do it's going to have to be custom build.

I have three sets. Very nice heads.
Two cars are waiting to make first passes on them.
First set are on a 394 with a flat tappet cam in my Dakota.
Second set are on a 408 with a roller cam in my Valiant wagon.
Third set are on a 360 with flat tappet cam sitting on the engine stand.
Just waiting for tracks to open.
Only report I have for now is both engines sound good and feel good driving around the neighborhood.
What times and gearing do you got i the wagon?

Thanks.

I had 1 3/4 with the 360 but the new 394 it has 1 7/8.

Cool thanks for the info. Was the 1-3/4 of the shelf header or did you have to have some custom made? My son found me a 1-3/4 weld up your own fender well kit for $450. But I have never built a set of headers before.

Damn that sucks. They are for 97 and up. Us First gen Dakotas dont get any love. Lol

You may be able you make them work.
I know of a guy that has a set of your year Dakota Hooker 1 5/8 headers on his 99.

I’m kind of wondering “how are they” myself!

I won't have all the numbers for a few weeks but had mine flowed at a local shop. [email protected] on the intake. They backed up a bit to 294 after that [email protected]. 221@(I believe he said).600 without a pipe on the exhaust. When I took them in he commented on how small the exhaust looked but appeared to be where it should be. He was kinda excited to see where they were flow wise. Today he says they move some air thats for sure lol

Almost forgot the most important part. Hes gonna go through them as there was quite a discrepancy in how the guides felt between the intake and exhaust that were flowed. Both were velvet smooth but much tighter feeling on the exhaust.

They are nice for sure. I meant to ask about low lift numbers but our conversation changed directions a few times.
Or how well did they match up to the listed dates by TF?

We will know when I have numbers in hand. I'd have to look but I seem to remember [email protected] from TF. Will be interesting to see where the rest of the numbers fall. We all know ya cant race benches but I'm curious to see the curve in comparison to TF numbers.

Those are impressive #'s since the big block 240s do 334cfm @ .700

Yes, and the port size is still in the small side.
