Turning back the clock

Hi Big D.......Not yet.... It is in line for the painter and looks like maybe end of next week?

first up is the dash (in the car) /glove box door, and guage panel

next will be the single stage gloss black which goes everywhere except dash and all the outer sheet metal /skin

then comes the refrigerator white on the outer shell

after reattaching the doors, deck, fenders, and hood, the final will be the red /blue mopar colors.

just like when it was originally built.

when you coming our way?

There is a guy in Ft. Dodge that has several old Mopar drag cars including Bob Lambeck's Hemi Dart. His name is Tolee Polovitch (probably not the correct spelling) He used to own S&P Electronics and maybe still does. Havent been back there for a few years but he is a good guy.
I know this is old but I think that Tolee is Tolee Polewik. We bought the Flash from his son Alex.

I figured I had the spelling wrong. Anyway at one time Tolee had quite a collection of Mopar drag cars. Some very nice early B bodys.

at one time....from what I hear....Tolee was a hell of a Mopar racer

The only time he was ever at the track when we were racing back there was when he was making passes on a B body that he had bought and I think he always had a driver with him. I could be wrong though. But he had some damned nice Early B body cars.

as someone building a retro pro stock tribute i gotta say this car is awesome! subscribed!

Thanks....you probably have seen this race car in your backyard, OMM and I picked it up in Huxley.

what ya building UDUST81...... and is there a thread?

maybe soon OMM will post some picture updates. I have probably less than a day to go of scotch pad scuffing (everything but the outer skin that is now paint ready) I will be done tomorrow .

Then time to apply the first bit of paint to the Flash.....this baby is gonna be a keeper!

Denny, Brother John, Just catching up on the thread. Fantastic. Denny, good to talk to you tonight.

its honestly more of a pro stock tribute car, kinda like what a guy mightve built back in the late 70s and tore up the street with, if i could afford a hemi i would but instead its got a 505" wedge me and my dad built, 11.5 to 1 compression, cnc'd procomp heads, open headers and a big solid flat tappet cam, i built up an 850 double pumper to run on e85 too, currently dons a victor intake but have a weiand tunnel ram im building with 2 750 double pumpers that ive rebuilt with quick fuel metering blocks so it can still run on e85, 727 trans, full manual valve body, 4000 stall converter, and an 8/34 rear end i pieced together with 3.91 gears and a sure grip

for the body we cut off the tail panel floor pans, quarters and lower fenders, welded in subframe connectors, taught ourselves to do lead work instead of just filler as well, six pack lift off fiberglass hood that ill be replacing with a pro stock style scoop once i get the tunnel ram going. block sanded and painted it all in my dads little one car garage, its been 4 years to get to this point, i finally got it running this fall and have only been around the block twice, but im really looking forward to this spring time to get it out and play!

Heres a couple photos and a video of it running if i can get it to post pictures

I love the sound of open headers in the morning.....sounds like...Victory.

Nice build USUDT81

To catch you boys up.....took the 6.1 Gen III out of the HDK mock up mule (5 minutes) and replaced it with the mock up Stage II Hemi elephant eared block and trans (another 5 minutes). Getting things around for the Flash motor install. I want to "sort out" the crank trigger / wiring / dual plug combo....with it running before it goes into the Flash. I originally intended and normally would have done this in the Flash before it headed back to the body shop....but when the Hemi build ran late, the HDK mule got called up from the minors.

Honestly, I think it's better to do it the way you're doing it. Get it running like a champ and dialed in while it's sitting in the test mule. Confirm no leaks and then wipe it off and drop it in The Flash! To me, that would make the first WHOOOOOMPA with the engine in The Flash just that much more enjoyable! :)

The Hemi is being picked up AFTER it has already been run in on a Dyno....not for max HP, but for exactly what you mentioned above.....just no crank trigger dual plug ignition or me being there. IF I can be there.....we will likely skip the Flash Hemi in the mule mock up and I will just mock up the crank trigger wiring with the dummy block in the mule.

I am a big fan sorting things out pre paint....plug out....then plug into the fresh paint.
