Two stud transmission mount for cable shift 904

I hate to come to the well twice in one day, but I’m having trouble finding the correct transmission tail shaft mount for my 65 Dart 273/904. Rock Auto, AutoZone, O’Reilly, etc all show the mount as having one stud mounting it to the cross piece. I found an NOS mount like mine on ebay - for $100. I’d rather have something that has rubber that’s not 60 years old. Thanks for any help.

No one makes a new one. The industry went to the later single stud and that's all that's available, except good used and NOS.

You shouldn't need to drill a hole if you have the early A cross member. But yes, the single stud mounts are the same otherwise.
 
This is funny in some respects we can buy a repo twin bolt transmission mount here in Australia would work out about $62.00 usd plus post of course

Mackay rubber probably....local production (Australia), do the upper and lower suspension bushes and the spring shackle bushes as well..... always used to be great quality
 
I’d have to look, but think I have at least 1 of the twin studs in storage. I’ll take a look if you want
 
Haven’t gotten it back in yet. So far I’ve found mis-matched flex plate bolts, a cracked flex plate, and it seems you can’t get two-stud transmission mounts anymore. A couple of people are helping me on that. Otherwise, I’d have it in already. It’s sitting on the tranny jack ready to go. Found a few other small issues like a heat riser stuck closed, but no show stoppers so far. I’m picking up a flex plate today. AutoZone has one in stock, and my new bolts from ARP should be here in a day or two. I really appreciate all the help on this. I’ve never had so much trouble swapping an automatic, but this is my first Mopar.

I’d appreciate it. I’m sure the single-stud would work, but it would bother me everytime I looked at it. There may be some urethane mounts available, and I’m looking into that.
 
My God. Adding a second stud is as simple as drilling a hole and welding a stud on. 15 minute job at BEST. Have we actually devolved this far?
 
surely drill tap and screw one in :)

either way both mounts work
and if you really want to, you can probably fit a later spool type if you can find a post 73 bolt in cross member and don't mind chocking it with washers at the indent used on earlier cars to stop you mounting the original the wrong way round.

I didn’t find one in storage but noticed the 64 904 I just got back from Dynamic Converters has a 2 stud mount installed. No idea of the condition

The one on Vixen has two studs. I have another on the shelf. The rubber isn't bad, but it does have some surface cracks, of course. I don't know when they went to just one stud. The one stud mount will work just fine, though.

The problem there is, the metal is vulcanized to the rubber. While you could probably get it off the original, I don't see how in the world you'd ever get it to stay on the new one. Plus, you'd probably tear up the rubber in the new one getting that plate off. I'd just use the single stud mount. It's really much ado about nothing.

Agree, the engineers obviously figured out that one was sufficient.

But to follow up ...

If the mount is compressed between the transmission and the cross member. Where would it go?

Interested in your thoughts.

It cannot go anywhere. But If I modded the mount like you're talking about, I'd still want the piece with the stud attached to the rubber. I wonder if something like Liquid Nails would work clamped in a vise until it cured completely?

Agree....

Liquid nails or something of the 3M automotive adhesives line. Vibration resistant, able to flex
