UTG engine build "callout"

-
I think UTG is trying to repair some reputation. He helped build a motor for another channel that turned into a disaster, bottle rocket cannot make it a 1/4 mile without falling apart, the interest in a slant six Miata isn't exactly bringing them in and he has a big fancy building to support now.

Ok 318WR, yeah. If somebody makes a claim, and you say "prove it", than that person should either prove it, or take serious offense and say "you prove it", then divide the Mopar world between to factions to get more YouTube clicks and views while never verifying wether the original claim is based in fact or opinion.

Or maybe just don't get your feelings hurt when somebody disagrees with your opinion???
LOL... it's all good. I just like the facts straight. UTG is NOT the accuser, Roadkill is... and you said anytime someone disclaims what a guy says, the guy must prove what he says. I'm just showing you that you wouldn't apply that same rule to yourself, and neither would I. Tony was a good member here, and now minds his own business doing youtube videos. And yet, this Mopar world as you put it, is constantly making thread about him and bashing him. Many will think because of what I typed in these threads that I've picked sides. Actually, I just don't like the slamming and Fake News that is made about a man that has helped so many here on FABO, the mopar world and continues to try and help.

Bottle rocker is a work in progress like any other POS out there. It’ll take time. If you can do better, please leave a link to your channel.

That live 318 build was a disaster even before it got to the UTG site. Luna screwed up first.

I gotta agree with this... ^^^^^^^^

If UTG wants to dare them into building a junk engine hed better be ready for them to dare him into buildong something that makes real power. They have the $$$ he dont or at least thats what he says.

i got a feeling that a video like that would turn into one big infomercial

"ok, so here is the 318 i started out with, the inside was trashed, but luckily the good people at moparsRus send me a replacement block, it is simply a punched over 318, also known as a 340.
the air comes in through a weiand intake (thanks Jeggs, and lowes for supplying the dremel to make the ports look good)
oil seeps out through the lousy welds of a milidon pan gracefully donated by the good people at summit, and is keps in place but some extra strenth Maxi pads, courtesy of CVS"

but, maybe the endgame is to get a few corporate sponsors?

Think about what it would take for UTG to prove it, the actual work of tearing the engine down is nothing, and a set of gaskets. He would need an engine dyno, plus transport the engine there.
The same it would take for you to prove it, get busy...

And if I've made statements and been proven wrong, I just except it as me being wrong. We all make mistakes, why get butthurt over it?!

And why didn't you include the rest of the post where I admitted potential falacy with my additional statements? I said something that I thought was right, when challenged, I held my tongue and decided I needed to do some more reading.

LOL... my point was, suggestions to help others are given every hour of every day on this site to help others. If i say prove it, does everyone have to go out and prove it, regardless of money or time ??? If you answered "no" to what I just asked, then UTG is only offering a tip that worked for him, so why does he have to prove it ???? Nothing personal, friend. But I see a ton of injustice to Tony that has done nothing but helped people on this site as Whiteppunkonnitro. Go look at his feedback from this site. Now, he is still offering free car advice in his videos, as well as free car entertainment all on his dime and look at all the threads and remarks on how he's been treated. All because he has 184k subs, i guess. That makes it jeolousy.

I'm still trying to figure WHY RK would mock UTG in the first place. Where is the upside for them. They have the resources and dyno to do the flip if they are looking to wipe out Tony for some reason. Tony's in a difficult spot where to prove his point I think he would need access to a dyno. I think a drag strip leaves to many variables to prove his point when your talking about just the piston flop. I watch both shows and they both have >real world < experiences compared to some of the other automotive BS on TV. Of course, just my opinion, a lot of them flying around here.

I have nothing against Tony at all. I've bought parts from in the past. Always a nice guy to deal with.

I honestly just wanna see the claim proven or disproven without no relevant challenges and insults.

I don’t think RK (Steve D) purposely called him out or insulted him but just simply gave his opinion on it. iF Steve D decided to call him out it would have been directly done by naming names. I see it as Steve D trying to walk around it lightly, but did t do it the way he would have liked it to come out.

If I was to call out someone here, it would be direct.
Name the name and go from there.
Or call everyone out on our own 318 shoot out...
LMAO!
I’ll let 318WR handle the details.
He would do a good job at it.
(No! Not calling you out or asking you to handle a competition. But you can IF you want to...)

I dont understand the logic in tearing apart a worn out 50 year old core engine, and reassembling with zero new parts or machine work. Literally NO ONE, would go to that amount of work, even the very most low buck guy would at very minimum put rings and bearings in it.

I thought I was the king of dirt road builds, but that just seems crazy.

this sounds like an Andy Kaufman an Jerry Lawler skit. No one wins except both their channels viewers numners. I mean that's what youtube is all about right? They probably drink beers together congratulating each other on their viewership numbers.

Right....I couldn't give two craps about the call out or trash talk. I just wanna see bottle rocket do what he's trying to do with it......or not. lol

Makes me curious if maybe there a some bad blood between them from the past. All three of them were in the magazine world in the past. Did their paths cross and it ended poorly?

I agree, I like both RK and UTG. Anyone on this site that has a dyno could do the swap too. I'd like to know myself, I've never tried it.

Steve Dulcich posted on his Instagram recently about the challenge, and requested that UTG contact him to go over the rules. I think the post has since been deleted, I just looked for it. Steve has a youtube channel now too that is more grassroots like UTG. I honestly really enjoy both the motortrend guys and Uncle Tony. There's not a whole lot of 60s-70s Mopar content out there, especially for free, so I will definitely take what i can get. I think anyone can hate if they want, but its a lot of work making content. Whatever UTG is doing is working, because all the Mopar forums are always talking about him!

As a jarhead, I LOVE the idea of a build what ya brung kind of mentality.

It's got "Improvise, Adapt and Overcome" written all over it and it will take know how, not bolt ons to make something go fast.

That's my kind of Jam. Any (almost) monkey can bolt on some store bought **** and end up with something that is street respectable.

having to "go without", has a certain element of bad assery that I like..

Right and pretty much how I've always had to do it due to budget constraints. Improvise, adapt, overcome.

Was that a response to Tony's challenge? or the original Piston flop challenge.

Just when you thought you have seen everything. It seems old uncle tony has decided to "call out" steve dulcich and david friberger with a a mopar "318 build" but, with zero new parts other than a gasket set being allowed. Quite bizarre. What do you guys think?
I seem to recall that uncle Tony's last 318 build shot craps on the dyno at Nick's garage.

Yeah and correct me if I am wrong there was a pound and a half of dirt and grit in the pan when they dropped it, it lost oil pressure or something...rule number one dirt is the enemy in an engine build. That was also the "one day" live engine build stream if i remember correctly. Totally not UTG hate just what I saw/remember from that Nicks garage video.
