Veterans On the Board

Enlisted in the AF to avoid being drafted in 1971, got sent to Amsterdam when I was 18 and when I came back 3 years later i was 35!
I enlisted in the Reserves as soon as I got active duty so I could be a Loadmaster and spent the next 25 years at Travis being one on C141s. Retired in 2000 as an E-8.
Greatest years of my life. How else would you get to Antarctica (twice) and get paid to do it?

Good old 4thAF...I was at McChord '72-'91, so I'm sure we share some friends and acquaintances.

Great thread! I'm sure everyone here served with honor as I. Doesn't matter where or when you served, but that you served with pride. Thanks to all my "Brothers and Sisters in Arms."

For this special weekend where the brave are honored I would like to say thank you to all the men and women who have served or are currently serving. Without you the our world would be a different place. For yours and your families sacrifice I say thank you.

To all that has fallen and never made it back home and all the men and ladies keeping us safe here in our homes My family and I thank you.

You well not be forgotten

Ironically the week of graduation we received orders that we were the first graduating class not to be deployed over seas. Was ready to go but very glad i did not have to.My hats off to all those who have had to do so this includes my son who is still in but now as a reservist and is looking at a second deployment so is the buzz around the barracks. This will be his second deployment. He was previously attached to the 101 screaming eagles but he was not jump school qualified. His MOS was maintenance.

My dad was in the Marines during Vietnam. From San Jose California, Ignasico Camarena. He said they use to call him Bandit. I believe he was in 3rd Marine Division Infantry. I should mention he was there early, I believe from 65-67 not 100% on it though.
