Not sure if i count or not... usmc joined in highschool shipped to boot shortly after i graduated and recieved a medical diacharge during training due to a birth defect in my hip that according to doctors there "could break his hip if training is continued" complete bs in my opinion because at most it felt like a pulled muscle or something in my groin. I fought to re enlist with a waiver and tried for well over a year to get into any branch i could after the marine corpa continued to turn me down. Finally had to give up hopes of being a marine....... i was in tears when i called mama to tell her i failed at making the family proud.......

I am gonna tell you right now. I don't want to ever hear you say you didn't make your family proud. That's a bunch of bull. I don't even know you but I am proud of you for fighting to stay in. If we had more people that were willing to fight for what they wanted this country wold be better off today. And if it weren't for people fighting for what they wanted this country would be different then it is today as well. You did your best and the Military turned you away. Be proud of that. I am proud of you no matter what. I consider you to be a brother always cause you started and weren't allowed to finish. Once a Marine always a Marine. Be proud and hold your head high.

I spent three months at Chanute in the winter of '89-'90. Worst place EVER!!! I'm so glad they shut that hole down.

thank you all so much that really makes me feel better! its gonna sound crazy and off topic but i cant talk to people I'm close to like my family or my girlfriend about emotions or anything remotely close. the best i can do is make jokes and be a jerk. i cant even hangout with people in public without sweating and twitching constantly. but for some stupid reason i can tell a stranger anything in the world. and being able to say thank you is something i haven't been able to do in a long time so thank you! the only time i can talk to family or the girlfriend is about cars even if they dont understand what im talking about. their like my safe zone of sorts so this website is really helping me out in lots of ways

Well if you ever need to talk I am here just shoot me a message. The next few days I may be hard to reach but I will message you back as soon as I get it.

The fact of the matter is that you did all you could. There is NO shame in that. I had to go through a formal medical board a few years ago to beg and plead for my career. Fortunately, they let me stay in. I know how it is. Your 'lack of service', as you see it, is no fault of your own. The fact of the matter is: you enlisted, they saw you unfit. No shame in that. If you still feel compelled to 'serve' there are many organizations out there that support the troops. You may want to consider joining one of them.

good luck and don't let anyone get you down. I know it's hard, but, eff em.
