Wanting 500 hp (or close) out of a stock stroke 360

-
You need more cam, more compression, more cylinder head, more intake.

More cam= something in the 260 zone @.050, .600+ lift

More compression= 12+ to 1 or more

More cylinder head= fully ported Eddy's that flow in the range of 300 cfm at .650 lift

More intake= Eddy Victor or better

You MIGHT be able to do it for a little less than that, but that's where you thought pattern should be.

The other part of your thought pattern should be to stay right the hell away from street racing. Yeh "Street Outlaws" is fun to watch, the only thing missing on race night is grand stands and a concession stand, and so far no one has died.

You want that street race vibe....just go to a track that sponsors no prep racing.....then you can figure out what it takes to beat those LS clowns.

IMO a 500 hp 360 is going to be pretty raunchy on the street. Put a 4" crank and do it much easier.

To much power for the street, that's funny. Just because you have it don't mean you have to use it all.

X2 JBurch as far as combo. Most guys I know that street race do it because they are afraid of real numbers like e.t. and mph. They know that there 11-12 second ride is more like 13-14-15 seconds on a good day lol

My 2006 monte carlo ss ran 14.2 quarter...144 mph in 4th gear at 4400 rpm.rev limiter.yes i had the car built..FwD...TOO.Things changed at the big 3 after that...great highway car...5.3:finga:All stock then.326.4 cid .a 340 duster stock WITH scat pack 391 gears ran around the same, only in the quarter.70,71

Street race all you want to. Right into a brick wall full bore. Thin the gene pool out some.

I run a 419 stroker with nos 250 shot. With the 4 inch stroke. I only need nos..yes me, in second and third.I have a light rotating assembly..revs...Dont need it but its there. That cam u have will be nasty in 360.I run a custom cam a little bigger...pull pull pull never ends.450 hp lol, but ive got the button. I have two set of tires 28 inch drag radials...26 inch slicks.I drive everywhere thats why i built it.

A 360 would do it but you need fully (CNC or professionally done) ported heads and a lot more cam, or a smaller solid street roller. COmpression is fine but you need toget more airflow in and out.

X2^ 400 horses is plenty for the street
Speak for yourself! LMAO!

Say no to street racing. It's cool till you hit someone.
No doubt!

Amen and Amen!

Yup, that should do it.
(I hope because I'm doing that now! LMAO! )

the Hughes camshafts has generally a tight lsa, this will hurt Your goal because its really hard to make 500hp below 6000rpm in a Stock stroke 360.
bigger lsa will bring the max Power higher up in the revs.

I may set it up in pipemax and see how far you may get With that camshaft:)

That would be great

you telling us your 2006 monte carlo ran 144mph in the 1/4 mile but only 14.2 et???

I read that as it ran 14.2, and on the highway went 144 until the limiter stopped it. I doubt it was a rev limiter though - I think the cars are speed limited.
14.2 in a FWD is going pretty good. In the 80s a friend modded a 2.8L cavalier. That was top-speed-limited to 124, but if you punched the dashboard and the speedo went out, it would go way beyond that. He did it all the time...lol

he says he "had the car built".

I'm running a stock stroke 360 with 534 hp (my engine builder let me know that a few days after it was dynoed they discovered a calibration error on the dyno. Applying a correction factor puts it at 555hp. But since I have a dyno sheet that says 534, that's what I will report)

As I see it, the differences between mine and yours are, my heads have Stage 3 CNC port (flow 303, 222 at .650) and intake ported to match. My cam is solid but with similar specs. My compression ratio 10.6. Fast EFI. Not sure about the rotating assembly differences but I know Mike prides himself on this.

I'm not sure where you are hp-wise, but I would suggest doing full port of the heads.

So the next time I pull up to the ET booth to get my time slip...Should I as for the recalibrated time slip ?

Only if it's for your shop-built Monte Carlo... I need more pills...lol
