Weight loss and perseverance

-
I had a nice motivational experience today. I was going through my closet organizing stuff when I decided to try on some of my “goal” clothes. These are clothes I bought that were way too small for me with the ultimate goal of fitting into them.

I decided to go all in and pulled out the pair of 34” waist pants and a shirt that is a men’s medium. These are the smallest of my current “goal” clothes and had no expectations of even getting into them until next Summer.

Bear in mind that when I started this journey, my pants were a 56” waist and my shirts were 3XL and some were even 4XL.

I was quite surprised when I put them on. A little snug, but...

Woohoo!

Still going! Only 38 lbs left to go. :)

AMAZING!!!!

We’re u always a big guy? Kim
No, I was 185 lbs in High School when I played football. At 5’9”, that weight was about ideal. I stayed under 200 lbs until about age 28 when I slowly started gaining weight due to diet and reduced exercise. My weight slowly progressed upward over the course of years from various injuries, life events and a lack of caring to keep it from happening. It took me 25 years to balloon up to the size I became.

I only gained an average of 3-4 lbs a year over those decades and it was easy to ignore a few pounds each year. But it was creeping up on me. It was kinda easy to just ignore myself in the mirror and just get on with my day.

Then one day I saw a video of myself at an event and it hit Home...hard.

I had become the big fat guy and there was no longer any way to deny it. That was the day I decided it was no longer acceptable and I was going to fix it...one step at a time, just like how I got there.

I created a plan and stuck to it. It was only 40 excess calories per day on average over the years that got me to the big fat place and I was going to reverse it by shaving 300 calories per day to get out of it.

So far, it has worked well.

damn, looks like Superman.. nice work Dd
Thanks! I still have quite a way to go and I won’t stop until I get there. 38 lbs left to shed and a body to rebuild. With continued effort, I should get there by Christmas 2021...or at least close.

I am looking forward to Summer of 2022 and looking like this...When I finally regain myself.

That’s fantastic! Keep up the good work!

I’m sure you feel great, losing 56 lbs is a huge accomplishment! Well done!

Outstanding.....the woman all over you too...lol
My journey has also inspired my wife and she has lost 36lbs now following what I do. Funny thing is that I’m now small enough to wear some of her old “fat” clothes like t-shirts and sweaters that she has shrunk out of. My 16 year old daughter has lost 22lbs following the same plan and now my wife can wear her old “fat” clothes.

We just all keep swapping clothes as we shrink...LOL!

So can you say, "Honey, I shrunk the kids!!"??

time to write a book!
LOL, believe it or not...it’s already in draft. I’m just wanting to get to the conclusion of my journey to finalize it.

The working title is “Eating the Elephant” with the working subtitle “Regaining your life, one less bite at a time”.
