What Are You Doing To/With Your Car Today?

-
It is seems most of my life is spent waiting, or as my fortune cookie usually states, "You have an interesting past ahead of you"? It's been into three weeks that I have ordered a new dash pad, hopefully in the color and grain that they kindly let me choose from their color chart, we'll see. Had an horrific time trying different paints from various manufacturers to get the right shade with the satin look. Ole Bob from Oreillys hooked me up, it did take some coxing, but he made me up a rattle can to shoot. If I had the time and money I would powder coat the dash if I had to do it all over again.........it turn out OK.

Got my front suspension out and going to clean up upper and lower control arms as well as the torsion bar mounts today. Hopefully tomorrow I'll press out the old bushings and press in the new ones.

Then I can start putting it all back together. Also bought new rotors, studs and pads.

Pulled 8-3/4 out of this one to go into my 68 Dart. Retrieved tti h-pipe exhaust I got from a salvaged 70 dart when bought my dart back in 08’. Found a bunch of other treasures in the old storage garage too. Original alternator I cleaned up years ago and an original 13” spare with tire still holding air

Best part was picking up some oranges and avocados.

Replaced the drivers side motor mount from solid back to factory. (Chasing vibration) planned on removing the header to clearance from power stearing box. Removed outer tie rod, pitman, idler arm. Then I remembered I had to shim the passenger side motor mount. Removed the shims and the headers cleared. Put steering parts back in hahahahaha. Moved spring back to frame rails. Have to weld perches. Installed other wheels and tires.
Fabbed up speaker extension for under dash speaker. Mounted it and new Bluetooth radio.

Removed reciever hitch. 3 bolts on either side. Had to take out the front two bolts.
I forgot the shackle issue.
The frame rail tube that is welded in is wider than lower leaf springs. Anybody stack washers so they’re straight?

Worked on plumbing the trans cooler lines, radiator overflow and some other misc. stuff on the Barracuda. Also worked on Jake's 440 for his Dart. Measuring for new valve seals, and doing some other detailing, painting. Don't lsugh at my homemade spring compressor... it kicks *** and works really great! LOL
Progress!

Ordered some rocker arm shaft hold downs from Hughes. I will need to get some spacers once I get everything assembled and measured.

Yes, I know the thick walled shafts and the above-mentioned hold downs are likely overkill for a mild solid cam in a stock stroke 360, but I want to overbuild this engine for the level of power it will produce because I want it to still be running strong for my son in ten years when he will be able to take the barracuda to the track or on dates. Or take his date to the track. (Remember, the rear seat and back panel folds down for the rest of the date after the track, or prom. I hope he isnt into bigger girls, there arent so many 66-67 Chargers around. Heh heh heh) Maybe... If I let him drive it...

I like your way of thinking!

I got cracked back's headlight relay kit in the mail last week. I tell you what, this is absolutely top quality stuff! I'm an industrial electrician, and I could've built my own, but I bought his because he already has it all figured out. Literally plug and play.
Weather has gotten cold in central Indiana again, and I'm not in the mood to turn the heat on, so it'll be a few days before I install it.
It's very well made, I highly recommend it!

Anybody else going to the swap meet in indy Saturday? I'll be there looking to throw money at stuff I don't need!

The hardest thing for me with a 3 car garage was convincing my wife that it's only for her GMC Acadia and my Dart. Just because it's a 3 car doesn't mean you have to cram 3 in there!
