What Are You Doing To/With Your Car Today?

-
Last Friday evening I took the Golden Oldie to my engine builder's shop. Saturday he pulled the engine. Yesterday my buddy, Jim, brought the car back to my house for the winter (engine builder doesn't have enough room to store the car while he rebuilds the engine).

I put the billet MSD dist back in.I rebuilt it with new brgs top and bottom and pick up and rotor a month ago. When I originally installed it the centrifugal advance had lost 12 degrees so I put my Indy dist in until I had time to look at it.Turns out the rotor is .085 smaller on the underside and the weights are not moving all the way out to full advance...go figure...

Been going through and trying to get 67 FB ready to start for the first time. spinning the oil pump with home made driver thingy. trying hard to not ding up the bronze bushing . So need to turn it down an little and maybe use tape to protect bushing. Dont wanna get tape in the motor though. First spin.... the drill motor did slow like I was on the right track but no oil out of rocker rail. Charging batteries for drill to try again later. Just trouble shooting stuff. Trying to not make mistakes. Once I get this thing primed Ill verify TDC and get the EFI wizard set up and see if my wiring is up to snuff. Admittedly a bit nervous.

Oil only comes out at certain points during the engine cycle. Maybe try turning the crank a little at a time while priming?

I have been turning it about 90* ....Maybe not spinning the motor fast enough. Need to do more work on the spin tool so I dont scratch the bushing I guess. A little beat up from it. was thinking I was gonna get pressure pretty quick. It will work. Operator error at this point. It did take me a second to find out that the #4 main was responsible for some of the oil direction, so I started to rotate engine....but still no oil out of rocker shafts....Thanks Man!

I'm looking for the post on here that tells you the location the crank has to be.

Thanks 72Dart6pack! This is a 383 BB. I should have been more informative. Ill keep goin on her once the batteries charge up. I dont really want to take out the spark plugs but that would help doing it by myself. Might have to recruit a friend tomorrow night. what is a little unnerving is that I have not seen any oil on the top like I would expect.

Look down in the lifter galley. Mine filled up with oil, so I knew I was good even though I couldn't see any at the rockers.

Pulled the steering box to get a rebuild/seals. Even though only 40k miles, I don't want any leaks once I drop the motor in.

Probably just staring at pictures of it. I won’t be home to work on it :(

Got the block stripped of its paint, removed all of the gallery plugs. Off to the machine shop for its all expenses paid “get away”, where it will be lovingly soaked and caressed by knowledgeable hands.

removed a fender from a 1982 B2000 for the first time in 40 years.....had to pound a dent out of the front lip. Grill and bumper had to be removed for this. 10mm bolts, 3 were rusted and broke.

Rocker arm change from 1.5 to 1.6 ratio. All ready for tomorrow’s valve lash setting.
