What Are You Doing To/With Your Car Today?

Had to replace the brake line going from the master cyl to the proportioning valve for the rear brakes. Not too bad of a job. But THEN, off we go to the never-ending land of bleeding the brakes!! Used a Jeg's vacuum bleeder system but it's still a nasty, messy, slimy job. Gotta be sure no brake fluid gets on the paint, etc, etc. Finished it off with the old-fashioned way of my wife in the car manning the pedal and me playing with the bleeder screws. Got-r-done but not my favorite job!
Culprit line...has a minute crack or something somewhere before the lower fitting.

Glad I made the DOT-5 switch during the brake system upgrade/replacement
 
Crisis averted. Gave the inlet bleeder screw a little too much cowbell and the little sucker sheared off. Thankfully I was able to extract it without any issues. Took my time and greased the drill bit to catch the shavings. Definitely not fun

That's awesome man. I can only imagine that moment of relief you experienced when the ez-out bit and started to spin the piece out. Non-car guys just don't understand. haha!

100%. I even said to myself "Oh, thank God" lol

Wilwood puts sealant on those threads too, so I took an old crappy drill bit and heated the shank cherry red. Stuck it inside a few times to loosen the sealant. It came right out. I sacrificed the bit but saved the caliper. I'm okay with it.

Never making that mistake again

They are $50 - $100 depending on where you get it....
Absolutely perfect one man bleeding, flushing and holds enough fluid to do the whole system in one shot....
I've been using them for 20 years.

Brake bleeding job is done. Everything was new. So that took a 32 oz bottle & then some. And of course all the fittings leaked. :BangHead: But I got them all. :)

It cleans up with floor dry no biggie. If there was a leaking fitting? I had it today. Sit back! Rethink everything and move forward. Think I got it. :)
 
I wasn't real happy with the 1-2 shift of the 904 so I "reset" the front band. Hard to tell for sure from underneath the car, but it seemed like is wasn't tight enough. Then I went for a drive to "test" it. Feels better!

Now that i'm working full time, there is not much time to mess with the duster.
So I am taking the three day weekend to just tinker a little.

Last night I got some old parts together and stuck this pcv breather system together

Getting the new gauge cluster installed... moved the tach up onto the column. White faces for these aging eyes

Of course... I'm keeping with the tradition of "its never that simple" I'm sorting out the under dash wiring and harness
