What Are You Doing To/With Your Car Today?

On my 2013 Chally I put on new brake pads, and some cool caliper covers. I had put on a 2022 Hellcat front as mine was damaged in an accident, it looked ok but the stock wheels were pretty beat up, and looked kind of out of place and whimpy. I picked some 2021
10.5 " Scat Pack rims pretty cheap with Pirell P Zeros on them. The back tires where wore out for obvious reasons, but the front still had decent tread on them, so I put them on the back and got some new 275/40/20 Pirellie P Zero tires to replace the stock 8"wheel and and 245/45/20 tires. It looks a lot tougher and I'm really liking it now

Worked on reassembling the interior of my Durango after I dismantled it to replace the evaporator. And heater core. What a pain. Id rather do 10 87-96 Dakotas or 80's dodge pickups than to do another 01 Durango
 
I replaced my blower motor today. It wasn't as bad as I thought, but there isn't much room around all the A/C lines and heater hoses. The new one was a bit smaller, so it went in easier. Works great on all 3 speeds now. The bushing on the old one was seized on the shaft and spinning in the housing.

Destroyed a garage door last night. Been installing a new Edgy head on the flathead six in my 49 Dodge. Got the head on OK. Spent a while last night trying to hook up the two oil lines to the oil filter housing that bolts to the side of the head. #%$&@* fittings on the two metal lines were a bugger to screw into the fittings on the filter housing. They are hard to reach and won't screw in unless they are lined up perfectly. So I was cussing and hurting from bending over the radiator support and down into the engine compartment when all of a sudden it started cranking. What??? The starter relay on the inner fender has a black plastic button that will crank the motor when pushed. Somehow it got pushed and - worse - was stuck so it kept cranking. I was too dumbfounded to respond quickly enough (by, say, reaching into the car and pulling the gear lever down into neutral), and watched as the car backed into the garage door. That will stop it, I thought. Nope! I saw the door bend, then bend some more, and then the car just kept on backing until the door popped open and then it kept on backing until the door was a wreck and the car was sitting outside. Finally it quit cranking. It was dark and just about to thunderstorm. I rolled up the windows, then checked the car as best I could in the dark. Amazingly, it was almost completely undamaged!? Took some pix this morning and saw only a bent license plate and a couple of very mild scuff marks that I think will buff out. My truck and Charger suffered no damage. Garage door guy is coming over later this morning. Probably won't be able to get a new door until next week, but at least he can remove the old door today or tomorrow and I can put the 49 back in the garage.

My new insulated garage door is now in. It's manufactured under Florida's new hurricane standards, with a whole bunch of braces the old one didn't have. Supposed to be much stronger. Also, finished hooking up all the little stuff to the new Edgy head, including especially the oil filter and the oil lines from the block to the filter.

PS: that little black button on the starter relay on the driver's side inner fender is what caused the whole mess. I have a new one without the button and it's gonna go on this weekend.

My buddy John is coming over for a couple of 4th of July beers and we are going to try to get this up off of the floor and on to an engine stands. Two old geezers lifting an engine block. Wish us luck! :lol:

So much sanding!

Finally getting around to "chroming" my glass bumpers for my Scamp. I knocked the gel coat down with 220, then 2K primed and wet sanded all the way up to 1200grit. Then topcoated them in 2k gloss black.

Since I don't have a warming lamp, I'll have to wait a few days before applying the Alsa Chrome paint to them. Probably won't be until next weekend until they're finished. But they're coming along okay so far
