What Are You Doing To/With Your Car Today?

Been over 500 miles since the SG rebuild and new gears so changed the gear oil. No metal in the bottom of the housing. While the rear wheels were off I ground about 1/8" off both of the inner fender lips to try to solve wheel rub during hard turns.
Took the Dart on a 30 mile round trip to a local reservoir; drove it hard, still had very minimal rubbing on passenger side during hard right turns. Drivers side is OK.
Added bonus, it was over 100* and the temp didn't go past 190*; granted it was back roads with no stop n go, but I'll still take it.

I installed the.031 squirters on my 850 DP and started bending the filter to rail plumbing for the 6. A week off vacation next week, woohoo!

Drilled out the rivets holding the ash tray (coin holder) to the door. Sandblasted the tray and put it back together with nylocks and small bolts. I don't remember the size.

I also sandblasted and painted some fender arch supports and the shift and kickdown levers that will be going on my new 727.

Drove it to work and to the window tint shop. Yesterday I went to 5000 RPM for the first time since the build. Holy crap---started coming on like a freight train at 4500 and was not done at 5000 when I let off it. I have a little carb tuning to do and then I will try for 6,000 and see what happens.

finished my supply and return line for the injection, what a job when its not on a lift! entire supply line and filter from sender to rail is isolated from chassis with rubber supports. Word of advice, bend them up, then cut the ends for size unless you have a fitting close to the end.

Bored with the Phoenix heat and monsoon storms, so decided to machine a aluminum billet mechanical only breaker plate for a Mopar aluminum distributor... also machine the distributor casting itself for more exact center line and roundness... and, making a snug fitting aluminum breaker plate for a more ridged distributor ... was surprised (a little) how the cap seat on distributor was slightly lopsided from shaft center line... fixed that as well...

Quicker advance springs... and a few other select parts... .008 gap between race style reluctor (machined) & pick-up... set timing 35° total @ 3000 rpm and at idle was 10° BTC... Zero spark scatter or bounce!!!! Timing light made timing tape / harmonic balancer look like a dead still photo at any RPM

Took the 65 'cuda 273 Commando 4 speed out for a quick spin to slam a few Gears and was not disappointed ... (carried spare Distrib with me... but did not need... LoL )

it's still inside the trailer - which was protecting it from the roofers!!! I've still got some clean-up to do before I can allow it back in the garage.

Not today, but yesterday I applied paint to the engine compartment of my 65 Formula S.

Wife & I left about 10 this morning, went through Mpls then St Paul over to Mississippi river then down stream. Stopped in Prescott, WI for burgers & beverage :) continued down river for awhile. Crossed over to MN side, back to St Paul. Met one of the sons at Bad Weather Brewery for a cold one then took the Parkway home. About 5 hours & 120 miles for the day. Beautiful day 78 with a few clouds. Car ran great! :)

Went to ACE Hardware and got a new (non mopar) ignition key cut. The original made it fifty years.

Here's the new one.

Well, considering I spend the last 2 and a half weeks in Europe driving econoboxes with about as much testicular fortitude as Bruce Jenner, I think I'm gonna fire up the ole duster, wind up the 408, warm up the drag radials and let freedom ring right out the tailpipes

Drove my Barracuda to work today, took it out at lunch just to drive it a little more. Would be easy for me to get a ticket today!
Going to rejet and re-powervalve the carburetor before weekend and see if I can make it run in the sweet spot on the wideband!

and lets add to that, pushing it, leaving it in a parking lot and hopefully coming back later tonite to replace a fuel pump and drive her home again
