What distributor do you run?

I can set you up with a brand new Chrysler electronic with custom advance curve and adjustable total for under 300 shipped.
Message me for more details if you are interested.
Most anyone here that’s been here for years can tell you I have lots of experience with them.
As a matter of fact lots of people here are running my distributors.
Lol triple R ain't ponyin up $300 for a distributor bahahaha..

^^^^ that would literally double the cost of the engine that he's building !!!.... LOL

Something just isn't right.A 10:1 340 should be very happy at 12 or so initial timing.Somebody must have welded the slots in the distributor to reduce the mechanical to 10 so 25 initial gives you full advance of 35 degrees.I'm guessing it's a very lo compression engine to be happy at that.
If it is a true 10:1 340 and your figures are correct i would just buy a stock mopar distributor from Rock Auto for about 50 bucks and install it as is or change the springs for a bit quicker advance.

I actually have a stock mopar distributor from rock auto in it right now

That is not for the distributor I was referring to. The one I have runs like hell and has not failed me yet. The OP has a stock replacement distributor which is pretty much the same thing. He could use the parts I linked to and curve his own easily. To each their own but that's what I run.

Me too. I also recomended as well Post #36

I quoted RRR for other reasons than that.:D
I wanted him to know I’m back into building advance modified stock looking distributors again.

I was wonderin about that. I am glad "you're back".

Have you seen the reviews on those ebay spectra distributors?
Amazon.com: Customer reviews: Spectra Premium NS60 Distributor

FBO is a US ignition company online.
I am a distributor for FBO.
Not only are they a US company, but the people there are racers themselves and have excellent warranty service if needed.
Even though I build most of my own stuff, I do use their parts in some cases.

Spectra is not an "eBay" distributor. That's the same Spectra that makes gas tanks, sendin units, radiators and "other" things. They are located in Canada. At least it is a North American company.

So I went to check timing on my car the other day after a buddy of mine tuned my car a little bit. It has 25* initial and 35 total. It’s a 360. got edlebrock heads and cam with 10.1 pistons. 25* initial seems like a lot to me so I tried to back some timing out of it. The problem is that I don’t have enough ignition curve. I only have a 10* curve. I’m thinking of replacing the distributor with something like one of the ones I’m going to leave a link below. I can’t have less initial timing because then I won’t have enough total timing. I set it at 15 but then I only have 25 total and it runs like trash like that. So any distributor recommendations or solutions to this problem would I be greatly appreciated! MSD 8388 Chrysler 318-360, Ready-to-Run Distributor

What is the actual measured compression? Using "10.1 pistons" doesn't necessarily mean the actual compression ratio is 10.1. Have you measured it?

As someone else said, there's nothing wrong with running 25* initial ignition advance, if that's what the engine wants and it doesn't kick back on a hot start. My 340 runs best with 26* initial. Odd, but true - and runs great.

I'd figure out what the engine actually wants for initial timing before worrying about total timing or even changing anything, parts-wise.
