With a transmission in the stock location and using the “straight” / super stock rods like the homemade one you have, you have to cut up the frame side and bolt in part of the cross member to make it fit.

If you’re using in a stock application, you would be better off buying / finding a set of “A” body shifter rods as the angles / bends are different. If cutting up, those would work.

Good info, because I had NO idea.. Would have been bummed when installing and running into that issue. Maybe Brewers has them..?
Again, thanks for the info.

You may find that pistol grip shifter to be too long / tall and not a comfortable reach in an A body. If I remember tomorrow I’ll take a photo of the number on the one I have in my car.

It's the one that's "recommended"...

Shift handle will be fine, that's the non-console 71 B body shifter. It doesn't hit anything. The handle is a smidge high if you're running factory bucket seats, but it's in a better spot than any of the stock pistol grip alternatives. This is a picture of the same handle in my Duster when I had an 833 in it, it's almost certainly in 1st gear here so it's all the way forward.

Not sure what you mean.. These rods are no good..? I should buy some different ones..?
They're fine, I did that to a Buddy's '67 GT, the shifter would go out of adjustment 'cause the rods would tweak a little after bangin' on 'em. I slipped thick-wall tubing over 'em & MIG'd 'em, problem solved.
