Hi Folks

Just wondering what this hole in the firewall just above and to the left of the parking cable is for? I've seen firewalls with this hole, and I've seen them where there was a dimple at this location.

On my 71 Demon it’s where the factory tach wire is. A picture that a member posted here. Hope they don’t mind a repost. I kept a copy for my reference.

Thanks for the reply. I have dimples in the location of the factory tach wire in your pic. The hole I am referring to is just above and to the left of the parking brake cable grommet.

On my 70 Dart the window pisser hoses are where the picture shows “plugged on my car” by where the ballast resistor sits.

Edit. I don’t have the hole OP is asking about.

It's a 71 Demon auto, but the firewall is from a donor and I'm not sure what that was. My guess........Possibly the reverse indicator light from a stick car? Hoping someone will confirm. I originally thought that it may be the tach, but @Dubob 's picture shows that it is not.

Your speedometer cable appears to be in the parking brake cable hole, and the hole your asking about almost looks like someone drilled it, not factory. That's how it looks from here anyway

^ Think he’s right, my emergency brake cable is in the hole under the voltage regulator.

Red is E Brake cable (not speedo cable)
Yellow is your hole
Green is the speedo cable


Google claimed this is a 71 duster.

Yup, the yellow arrow. I've seen 2 firewalls with the hole in the exact same place and 2 with just the dimples. Just wondering what goes in the hole.
 
I know in 67 the tach wire was in the harness and went through the bulkhead, I believe in 68 they changed that, don't know where they put it.

Looking at the FSM for my 1970 Dart the only two single wires that go through a grommet is:

Tach wire. Gray with a tracer
Manual transmission clutch start switch. Dark Green
