I commented before the o.p. posted his goals, 13s at 6000 feet. Now, assuming he might one day run his car at 500 feet, and that it might run low twelves at that point, i think slicks, good shocks, and ss springs will easily get the job done. If he wants to spend more, for more performance anticipated down the road..... caltracs (or assasins, like those too) or ladders. More work, and more money than neccessary for op's goals.

I have used Super Stock springs with cars high 10s and slower with no issues. My current car is a backhalved ladderbar and runs mid 10s. It has a big tire and has no issues hooking in hot/cold or non perfect track prep. It really comes down to the intended purpose and ET of the car IMO.

Street/strip car - mid to high 10s and slower use Super Stock springs
Street/strip car mid 10s or faster or a drag car that you don't want to cut up use Caltracs
Strictly race car that you want to put a big tire on or or don't care to keep stock - Ladderbars

This was me on 002/003 leafs and CE 3 ways all around

For Many years I just ran a pinion snubber on stock worn out springs with CE shocks and it worked just fine. I even ran at the same track (Bandimere Speedway) with that setup, cutting 1.50 60' times....but, the Caltracs hook so much better as you make more power, and more consistent. Like YR said, buy once, cry once...although its not that bad...I think I only paid about 8-900 for the full setup, but I could be remembering wrong.

Yeah it's really not all that bad considering having a full race or mostly race car. I'm certainly not arguing that they don't work.....just that there are less expensive options that do work.

One thing I forgot to add to the survey are traction/slapper bars. I know they CAN work if set up correctly. How do ya'll feel about them?

This is how my old school 71 duster was built. It was made to run 11.001. It did so well that for 7 or 8 years straight it was the track champion. Narrowed 8.75 with 4.30 gears. Resplined axles. No back brace. No snubber. The spring pads were boxed in. Mopar long shocks. SS springs. Frame connectors. 6 cylinder T bars. 90/10 front shocks. 12 inch rims. 12.2x31.25x15 W series good Year slicks. Cheetah shifter. 727 with rmvb. 3800 T/A converter. 440 with the old super stock cheater cam. 10.5 compression. Pro parts headers. 2800 lbs. w/o driver. The 60 ft times were 1.34-1.37 Kim
Love it! That feels like my youth to me:thankyou::canada:.

I havent tried slappers on a mopar, but they made a world of difference on my 57 chevy with a four speed.
If you do try them on a mopar (i got no problem with that, whatever works for you) just make sure the snubber pad hits the front spring eye, not forward or behind.

Most slapper bars need to be fabricated to work on a Mopar.
I had custom made slappers on my 67 fastback and then graduated to a custom ladder setup.
Both worked really good.
It was my street car daily driver in the late 70's, ran mid 11's at a buck 17 on slicks

Really need a ballpark number (et/mph) the bracket intended in order to get some usable Opinions seems to me. 14 second? 13? 12? 11.5? Or 11’s, mid 10’s or quicker? MPH?
And what size tires!

I like them on the right thing in the right circumstance. I have a pair of the yeller Lakewoods I'm going to put on Vixen because they match the direction I'm going. Although I'm using them just for looks, they will be installed correctly so they will actually WORK.

I had a pair of these also. Way back in the day and they worked but back then wasn't the same hp. lol

Well, I'm sure my slant 6 won't need them, but they'll look cool. LOL
