What's the WORST car/truck you've owned?

-
4cyl ford ranger. It couldnt get out of its own shadow and the single cab was too small for me. So happy i never technically "owned" it or i would've been wishing for someone to total that truck.

And the auto trannys are worthless

I had two terrible cars.

1999 GMC Jimmy

Bought in 2006 at 86,000 miles for $6,000. Drove around for test drive - ran perfect, looked nice (candy green paint) and no issues. 2 hours after registering car in my name - brakes fail and run into the back of a minivan at 10mph in stop and go traffic. Tried to pull off to side of the road with the minivan I hit,and the brakes continue not to work - so I ran into the concrete barrier on the freeway. I told the CHP officer I just bought the car today - boy did he feel bad for me.

Got the car repaired for $4,000. They said the paint on the hood had no primer underneath and looked like a cheap job. All evidence (including 2 broken engine mounts) pointed to the fact that old owner off-roaded with it or something - got it airborn, and nose-dived into the ground.

I drove it till it hit about 92,000 miles, and I was backing out of my girlfriend's driveway on the way to the mall, and all the sudden BANG! The car starts lurching and clunking and it won't move barely. I tell her we obviously can't go to the mall. I'm pissed. I don't know what I was thinking but I just floored it and the car went maybe 5mph all the way home. Every couple of revolutions the motor would make a really loud BANG! and then the rear end diff would make a nice chime. Sounded like I was doing a drive-by or something.

Opened the rear diff and it was basically dust and gear remnants. The transmission was cracked and leaked all the fluid out, but the motor still spun. I left the car out on the street and eventually no one wanted it there anymore so I had to tow it. $300 for it at the junkyard. Was never able to fix it.

Then there was my 2004 Pontiac Vibe
Paid $5k for it 2 years ago.

It ran great for the first two months i owned it. Then the radiator cracked or something and all the fluid drained out onto the ground. Replaced the radiator myself, and was back on the road for another 6 months. The 5speed manual transmission went out, along with one of the springs somehow. Car just listed immediately to the right front corner.

I bought a new 6 speed transmission for $1200. They didn't have any 5's and people were just converting them anyway. The Toyota powerplant was still running well, and still does run great sitting outside my house - the problem is with everything after the motor. So far in the last couple months I have replaced the transmission seals, transmission (again) and 3 CV shafts. The car has an issue with throwing the CV joints out of the transmission and then not working. (there is no limited slip). I thought i was putting them in wrong, so took to a mechanic the second and third time. Both times flew out again within 2k miles. Still no fix, but now the catalytic converter is busted, and costs $1500 from Toyota. Otherwise i can't register it in this state again...

So it's got $3k worth of stuff that needs to be done, and I paid 5k for it. I'm done with it. It sits on the street and I secretly hope someone blows through it with their car so I can go.... awww....:happy1:

Worst car I've owned, 73 Mustang. Would not start under any circumstances if there was frozen water around. Not even if in a heated garage! I suspect a cooler full of iced wobbly pops would prevent it from starting. Ran fine in warmer weather.

Best vehicle I've ever owned, also a Ford. Actually, several Fords, all trucks. Favorites were my '74 and '92 Broncos.

The absolute worst car I ever owned was a '74 Nova SS. It was my first car. One of the pins that keeps the leaf springs true to the shock plate was sheared, so it dog tracked terribly. The floors were rotted, so exhaust fumes replaced the oxygen supply. The fuel filler cap was missing, so a rag replaced it, resulting in the entire fuel filler tube coming out of the tank one winter because it froze solid and the force it took to pull the rag out pulled the whole tube out. Both quarters were made of bondo, and the driver's side door sagged terribly because of shot pins and bushings. As an ignorant high school kid, I didn't fully appreciate the concept of checking oil regularly. Needless to say, the engine seized. I sold it to a friend for parts, and he took it to the scrap yard and actually watched it get crushed. My second car, a '69 Fury III four door hardtop that I bought from my dad, was one of the best cars I've ever owned. I wish I still had it. This was in the late '80's-early 90's.

And the auto trannys are worthless

Hard to say. I'm not sure if it was the tranny was designed to shift all over the place or if the engine was a damn gutless that the poor tranny tried to compensate at all times.

1986 Dodge Charger. The pos left me sitting on the interstate 150 miles from home. When we unloaded the pos I never got in it again. A mechanic at the local Dodge dealership bought it but I never saw it in town again. That burnt me from buying any FWD Mopar as a driver from that day forward. I won't even fix one when I get it... I crush them all.

The worst vehicle I've ever owned was not a car or a truck. It was a minivan! It was a 1998 Ford Windstar. We still talk about it from time to time and refer to it as "The Poopmobile". lol

1974 Mazda RX-4
I threw it away after the fourth engine blew.
A close second would be my parents Pinto.

...Never had a bad dodge!

Oooo... I have, a couple of times. Not the worse cars I've ever owned, definitely not the best, and even far from good.

A 1987 Charger
(purchased new), within the first 50K miles, nearly every mechanical part forward of the fire wall was either replaced due to REALLY poor workmanship, or recalled for the same reason.

and a 1977 Aspen (purchased new). Rust bucket #1. The slant six was choked down to 90 hp, it got REALLY lousy mpg's, and reliability was in the toilet. A/C stopped working (the first time) at 115 miles on the odometer! Yep. A/C stopped working on the second day of ownership. Recall after recall. Even got a recall for rust!
