Get over it, they aren't that bad. I just happen to be drinking a Double IPA.

Yuengling Lager when I lived back east. Can't get it here in MN. Maybe this time next year according to them.
 
When I was in Dublin for St Patties Day. The English folk at the bar were awesome they bought Stella for everyone, played drinking games most the night. Irish don’t really celebrate patties day.
 
All of this makes me thirsty. While in the military at Skytop, Syracuse, NY, I downed a lot of Utica Club. Love to have one again.
Favorites? Heck, beer is all good 'cept for the bad ones-ha. I, too, discovered Mickey's and could down most or all of a six pack in 35 miles heading home from work. Felt real fine when I got home. I no longer drive after drinking.
Sheaf stout is really good.
However, I got diagnosed with celiac disease some years back and now I have to drink gluten free beer. Years ago GF beer was lousy. Nowadays there are some excellent brews. Omission, New Grist (lager only the rest don't work). Celiac disease removes wheat, barley and rye from my diet. Haven't had real beer in years, but I like most beers. Just imagine where those verboten grains are used in foods.

Drank like a fish all my life until about four years ago. A well-poured pint of Guiness is the one I miss the most.
When I got to the pub, I'd order two because they take awhile to pour correctly. I'd usually down the first draught in one or two gulps. So good.

If you haven't, try Schell's out of New Ulm. Second oldest family owned brewery, just behind Yuengling.

Yup, drank Schell's in the 70s because Pabst Blue Ribbon was too expensive back then, lol. The beer I like best is any draft or tap beer, always cheaper and tastes better than bottled or canned IMO.
 
People that can taste “bitter” don’t like IPA because they are “bitter sensitive” and are overwhelmed by the bitterness. People who are “bitter blind” don’t taste the bitter and taste the other flavors present instead.

Assuming that everyone has the same taste sensitivity is incorrect. What you taste isn’t necessarily what the person next to you does.

The same is true for spicy flavors. Some taste the flavors and others are overwhelmed by the heat.

I spent a large part of the past 3 decades doing “taste panels” and believe me, there are wide differences in what flavors people perceive and are sensitive to. Same is true for odors.

Don’t assume the guy next to you just “needs to get over it, and learn to like it”...maybe he actually physically can’t.

I can taste bitter and I love it! The the other subtle flavors show up and surprise you.

I've been in many research groups, and what we like and dislike is as varied as the people in the group.

I think that's a pretty accurate assessment........AND I'll add to it. "Bitter" doesn't taste the same to everybody. For instance, I LOVE the bitters in a dark or stout. Pretty much anything you have trouble or cannot see through is on my radar. But the bitters perhaps in an IPA turn my stomach. Smells and tastes like dead fish. I've even forced a few down in "hops" I might grow to like them. Ain't happenin.

I really like PBR when I can find it on tap and the tap is well maintained. But when it's bad, it's horrible. Normally, I ask for a sample if we're somewhere that serves draught.
 
Not all IPA's are bitter. The longer the hops boil, the more bittering that will be extracted from the hops.

We just got done kegging a brut IPA with only late addition hops. It's not bitter at all. Has a **** ton of hoppy flavor and aroma though, but without the bitterness. I bet you'd like this one, Rob.

I grew up in Waynesboro PA, about 100 mikes from the Yuengling Brewery. Now I live in Georgia and can't believe I was able to find this here. Two of Pennsylvania's best, lol. I wasn't sure at first, but its pretty good.
