Where is the VIN stamped on a '70 340 block?

-
Your Duster should have numbers stamped on the radiator support, usually anywhere from the center to the left (drivers side) and it can either be on the top of the support, or on the side where it would be hard to see. It's typically under the antifreeze sticker. Your car should also have numbers stamped in the rear, and on Dusters it will be visible from inside the trunk. Look on the bottom of the package tray, drivers side, near the speaker hole.

Thanks.. I found the # stamped on the package tray... Funny thing is I crawled my old lame *** into the trunk with a flashlight and couldn't find it... Then I went inside the car, and because I have the interior pretty much gutted, I fount the number near the speaker hole-drivers side, and was able to photograph it from outside the car... shoulda looked there first !! LOL

Engine numbers for VIN should be here. This is a 440 but in teh same basic location on a 340.

Many thanks Crackedback !!! Funny how easy these #'s are to find IF you know where to look !!!

So far I've found and have been able to photograph 7 matching VIN's, and also the engine serial # and block castings...

1. Dashboard
2. Drivers door tag
3. Fender tag
4. Engine
5. Transmission
6. Package tray
7. Broadcast sheet

I haven't found the one on the radiator support, but I think I've found enough to fully document that it's a true #'s matching car....

Thanks again for all the help guys !!!

Kenny

0 should be the first number indicating year, the last 6 digits are sequence numbers and are part of your vin, if these match your engine is original to the car.the vin number you need to look at on the car is the one on the dash on drivers side and the last 6 digits on engine should match the last 6 on dash, like I say, there should be an 0 indicating a 70 block on the pan rail.weird as the p would be indicate a 69 block , has to be an ob340 0 meaning 1970 the p indicates a late 69 block as if it were a 70 0 would be first number on panrail and on head

Hi, must be an echo in here .. LOL .... Yes, there's actually an OB (as in VS29HOB)...followed by 6 digits stamped on the block (same area as the picture of the 440 above) and same #'s as the VIN on the dash plate, as well as the transmission, door plate, fender tag, package tray and of course the build sheet, which I found under the back seat many years ago...

Thanks

Kenny

if the last 6 digits on the block match the vin on dash it is the original engine, take care

Anyone know where I can find the serial number on a '69 727 trans?

Found ours on the passenger side near the middle of the trans about halfway up. This is a 72, not sure if it's the same as a 69. Hope this helps.

If it's the same as 1970, look on the passenger side of the tranny, fairly close to the engine and you should see a raised bump w/ the # on it, like what I posted above... Good luck

Kenny
ps .. it really helps to move a flashlight all around at different angle, and all of a sudden the # will just jump out at you ...

No, look at the picture I posted of the 440 for the location of your vin.

Your pic is the assembly production sequence numbers
