I figured you would, lol, I wonder how many made it out the door like that?
I doubt it adds any value? Awesome bass though, plays/sounds really good.

Good question to which I don't know the answer. Taking a page from the coin collectors, "mistakes" get really big bucks. An example would be the 3-legged version of the "Buffalo" nickel.

It would require being able to prove that the P didn't simply fall off somewhere along the way.

That`s the thing, evidently they cleared over the decals back then, so they let it run through the rest of the finish process. Very strange indeed.

I forgot my wife has one that she got after her brother in law died in 1973. Les Paul 1955-1959 Tailpiece.

I'm not a guitar player...yet. She had a music store owner research it for her but she'll never part with it!

I toy with this stuff on occasion as a newbie. Spend more time with a OS Washburn acoustic .......

Bought brand new in early '87.

It's an '86 Model 2. Fell in love with the unique neck the first time I played it.

The MIJ Charvel site has hundreds of serial numbers on file.
The lowest all start with 225xxx. Mine starts with 222xxx!

IIRC, 76 Les Paul Custom is the only guitar I have left.

I've got a few guitars. These are my electrics. Early seventies' Crestwood LP copy, '88 LP Custom Showcase Edition, '90 LP Standard, '90 LP Studio.

The guy I got it from made the changes from factory. Too lazy to put it back to stock.

I played a fair bit back in college, but then let it slide for 40 years. Here are the new ones, a Squire Strat on the left, and a Mustang Bass on the right.
