My car with a tall indy intake and heads fits under the hood. I use a drop down air breather base, You can also use this drop base with th original 69 on back air breather lid shown below.
Should I leave the hood like it is or add a 340 Duster, Damon option offered in the early 70s. I’m putting it out there to see what you guys think, I’m in between about it. Your thoughts and opinions would be great,

I had the same experience, I had a 71 Camero that I used to race in NMCA & PSCA and put a fiberglass hood with light Tension hood springs and my hood cracked. Wow pulling the finders off to get at the springs, that’s a bit much as I might damage the paint and not to mention lining it up again. Body shop. For the record, I like your hood as-is. Definitely don't cut that one.
I was very happy with my AAR hood, but that was 10 years ago. I have heard good things about Glasstek.
Be aware that you'll have to pull the fenders and remove the hood springs from the hinges - even "weakened" springs will warp the glass hood over time. I use a prop rod now. You also need to remove the extra piece of steel that the spring mounts to, or the rattles will drive you crazy. I didn't - and it does! One day when I feel ambitious, I'll pull the fenders and remedy that. Save your parts!
Sounds great, I will be making shake down passes on the car in January at Irwindale raceway Thursday nights. Just got a new trans and converter. I haven’t been to the track yet with this car.I see you live in CA...where? I would like to meet with you.

If you have a swap, do it. But never touch original. It's up to you, if you want that original or Hot Rod look. Irwindale is my home track too. There is a guy there that races a dark green duster/dart sport, I was thinking it might be you. I guess this post clears that up.Sounds great, I will be making shake down passes on the car in January at Irwindale raceway Thursday nights. Just a got new trans and converter. It's just really whatever you want to do. I always really liked the look of the snorkel hood myself. One thing I will mention about your Duster; get some different rear wheels with more inside offset and get as much of the rubber inside the quarter panel as possible. Just a neater look. Just my opinion.Should I leave the hood like it is or add a 340 Duster, Damon option offered in the early 70s. I’m putting it out there to see what you guys think, I’m in between about it. There is a company in California called up22 that offers a Duster or Demon fiberglass hood in pin on or hinge mounted with several different scope styles.I would leave it as is! But, if you want a scoop (nothing wrong with that!) , please get a glass hood, and put the scoop on that. That way you can change back, if you want.
Edit: for what it is worth, I would use the scoop you are talking about, the raisin bran scoop. Post#11.
The car was sitting lower but the tires and headers were scraping on dips on freeway and street, I had to raise the car up in the front by the torsion bars, and get rear caltrac springs with a taller ride Hight. The wheels off set are wrong, the wheels came with the car. Those weld wheels are pretty expensive, I will get ride hight down after I buy the wheels with right off set. It's just really whatever you want to do. That’s what I used to do with my Camero, and run King of the hill brackets.Irwindale is my home track too. There is a guy there that races a dark green duster/dart sport, I was thinking it might be you. I guess this post clears that up.
(Secret to getting lots of laps at irwindale.... be there when the gates open at 4pm. You can get ten passes in in the first hour)
You may have seen this car at Irwindale raceway that I sold and bought my Duster. Good to be back to Mopar. That’s what I used to do with my Camero, and run King of the hill brackets.

I will have to look them up.There is a company in California called up22 that offers a Duster or Demon fiberglass hood in pin on or hinge mounted with several different scope styles.
DUSTER & VALIANT 67, 70-72 & 73-76I will have to look them up.
Once you drive it with a Snorkel scoop from a 72/73 Dodge you will sell your original hood if you get another. So just put the scoop on your hood.
But do it right. You'll need to put the five holes in the inner as the 73 dart sport or 72 Demon has and stamp the Air holes in the hood
I mounted the hood scoop back Farther because of the body line in the hood on a 71 and I kept it away from the 340 WEDGE decal. You should be OK with it in the original inner locations for the holes. The 73 to 76 Dusters also look good with the 73 Dart sport style hood treatment with the split black out.
