Maybe this will wake everyone up about isolating.

Look at how many deaths we have saved from people not on the highways. There is probably a pretty good offset there.

Watch for the offset in suicides, death and hospitalization from 25+ million people being thrown out of work with no way to pay for insurance or even if they could, hospitals with plenty of capacity shutting down preventative care and elective procedures. NOTHING good is coming from this shutdown and I'll lay odds the if the tolls were taken honestly (ie, not every death being artificially attributed to Covid) the shutdown will have greater and more lasting damage than the virus. Besides a couple hot spots in the US, this has been pretty close to what flu season looks like and we don't do anything approaching this level for the flu, ever.

They are counting EVERY death that is covid related a covid death. Flu vaccine is about 40-60% effective. Wonder what the Covid-19 vaccine will be...as its 3 strain and counting.

They are attributing deaths to covid because there is the chance that the terminally ill or seriously compromised patient may have contracted the virus. Those are not valid Covid deaths. There is also finical benefit for the hospitals to classify a death as Covid related. More Covid, more money.

In some places they are counting other deaths as well, it would seem they are trying to pad the numbers.

Here is what I think. COMMON SENSE! It is a fine balance. On the one hand, we do need to be responsible and try to help curb the infection rate and flatten the curve. I am totally on board with social distancing, staying home and temporarily limiting trips to the store, etc. However, how far do you want to take it? Before the haters gripe about what comes next, read it all. I am not saying the virus is not a problem. We just can't shut down the entire country and stay in the house for the next year. When you go to the store, do you set up a temporary workbench in the garage to unload the groceries on? Do you sterilize every can, box and bag with a Clorox/water solution before they go into the house? Do you sterilize the car's inner and outer door handles, steering wheel, and shift selector? After all, your hands did touch a lot of things in the store? Do you Sterilize your produce? If you have groceries delivered, you have no idea who has touched it. Same thing with restaurant drive through windows. That being said, I am taking precautions, because I have a depressed immune system. I AM taking it seriously. On the other hand, we cannot stay under a shutdown forever (or until a vaccine is available). I have an MBA and I do understand the financial repercussions on extended lockdowns. People CANNOT expect the federal government to continue going deeper and deeper into debt to continue propping the economy up. The economy CAN open back up if it is done with care and caution. Maintain social distancing, do not simply go full blast back to business as normal. There is also a thing called herd immunity. As more people get and recover from the virus, and develop an immunity, the virus will have trouble spreading among us. It is a real thing; look it up. Another problem we have is the spreading of false death data. There are a lot of deaths being reported as Covid 19 that are not. Let's say you have congestive heart failure and the doctor gave you a month to live 3 months ago. You have a massive heart attack and die, but the cause of death is listed as Covid 19. Even if a post mortem test revealed positive for Covid 19, that was not the cause of death. Turns out hospitals are financially motivated to list Covid 19 as cause of death. Granted even 40,000 deaths is terrible, but when the reported death rate is 57,000, how many are really Covid 19? I think most people are smart enough to move into an economic opening with an understanding of the necessary steps required to do it safely. We have already lost thousands, if not tens of thousands of small businesses forever. We need to open back up.

Thanks Mark , maybe this will awaken some to the seriousness of this pandemic . We have had 2 family members with the virus . Fortunely their symptoms were mild . Never in the history of humankind has the whole world been shut down . It's not over , yet , stay home and stay safe . God bless you and our first responders and second responders , truck drivers , grocers and sanitation people .

fear-mongering, is all it is was and will be.
Stay inside out of the sun, and your skin fails to make vitamin D; the principle flu-fighter, together with vitamin C and I heard zinc.
Watch TV and and get the fear of death preached at you from morning til night.
Stay at home and your body does not make anti-bodies for it. And the next mutated form kills more, and the next strain kills yet more.
So stay at home, and prepare your body for failure.
If you don't make antibodies for this one, getaload of what the next one will do.

So I I have changed my life not one bit, tempting covid to attack me, so I can crush it, and come back here and tell you all about it.
So far no luck. It's either hiding from me, or my guardian angel is doing his job, or I am blessed with an extremely powerful immune system, or it's just not here. I will not be afraid. Not of covid, and not of the next evil bug that follows it.
Two more weeks have gone by and another 9000 pounds of household crap have I chucked,as the town garbage-collector. And the meet and greet continues in the streets, just as it always has.

Check this out - two CA doctors present their take on this Covid mess and do it very well with real-world data. It may just change your opinion...

You just are not going to convince the idiots out there that don’t believe this is real to take is seriously. My wife works with a guy that is now learning to walk again because of the virus. 28 years old and an avid runner. He came down with it and due to the lack of oxygen and blood clots he stroked out. Yeah it’s a farce and monkeys fly out of your *** too

I am fairly sure this virus was making the rounds in Georgia in january and February, and I believe I had it in February, although mine was a mild case and there was no testing available at that time. But even though it was a mild case it was still bad. I had stomach pain, dizziness, a bad cough, no energy, chest pain around my heart, and a mild fever. The chest pain was what scared me, I have never had that with the flu. My doctor insisted it was just allergies and prescribed claritan d and Nasonex. A week later I was still sick and she prescribed a z pac for me, which did help but did not cure it. I think that was what got me over the hump, and after that it just took time. I did listen to the doctors that advised us to get sunshine, take vitamins especially c, elderberry, and vitamin b, plus place hot wash cloths on my heart area, and I did drink warm drinks like tea, and I avoided cold drinks. I think I had the one of the milder versions of the virus, and there are two more versions of the virus. Be careful folks, and take precautions.

Great post. I'm glad you're listening to what the professionals are saying.

I'd be careful what you ask for because you may get it. This is real and not something to be laughed or snickered at. You don't want this believe me. My neighbour caught it and she looked like death warmed up and nowhere near out of the woods yet after a month

The thing is that there are at least 3 strains of this virus, and you have no control over what you have been exposed to. The other problem is that there is an incubation period of 2-14 days, during which you may show no symptoms. When you think about that and that you can be around hundreds of people during that time, you realize how many can be affected and spreading it without knowing. As I am writing his my daughter that is a nurse has been exposed to 2 positive cases, and she has developed a sore throat. They know she has strep, but they also tested her for Covid-19. She is in quarantine for two weeks, and her test results are due later in the week. The hospital she works in is slammed with Covid-19 cases, and they have been doing without a lot of supplies. People can treat this like its not serious, but I assure you it is very serious. Take it serious folks, and be proactive. The life you save can be your own, or it could be anyone else including your loved ones. God Bless You All, And Stay Safe. Things will get better but we must help one another, and we need to take precautions to protect others. Mike

@Standonit1972 I'm pretty sure I also had it starting the second week of March. I also live in Georgia. 100.2 fever, baaaad sore throat, fatigue, and made myself cough up enough gunk in two weeks to fill at 24oz beer mug! I went to the doctor and was negative for strep throat and influenza, but they were only testing "at risk" folks for Covid at the time.

I'm in very good shape for a 57 year old. Not a marathon guy, but in all around great shape.

The scary thing is it seems to hit everyone differently. Could be the strain thing, or just how people's body reacts.

I believe it is a virus but I also believe it was man made.

I'll speak for California. Its time to go back to work, and open it up. We've learned what we've learned. Wash your hands, 6' social distance, and don't go to work if your sick. If you are old, or scared of getting covid, stay home. We are going to be much worse off if we stay unemployed, than we are with a virus. What are we supposed to do, just sit in our houses for the rest of our lives and wilt ? **** that. Time to open this country up. The only people that want to keep this country closed, and kill our economy are the Libs. They have tried every thing possible to take this President out of office. They want our economy to fail, because that's their only chance in the next election. Its time for America to face our fears, and get back to business, get back to work.

OK Who's the doctor that disagreed with my post. lol unbelievable lol
Do yourself a favor, shelter in place until a vaccine is available.

Most of us did and do take it serious. obviously not as serious as you.
before covid you couldn't get within 6 feet of me, now it's 12.

One good thing that comes out of this is the bro hug goes away. I hated that, even with my own brothers.

I went out for supper with my wife this afternoon, then grocery shopping, then out to an icecream shop. Stopped to visit with an old man, who does same as me, everything I ever did. I passed a lotta slow-pokes in aisles of the WallyMart store, mostly old people; but lots of overweights too. Not much young folks tho.

I'll let you know next week, when I run outta milk and bread again, if I got sick.

AOC Urges Americans to boycott going back to work.

Enough said. Whatever that wack is for, I'm against.

Time to take our heads out of the sand and get back to work.

Isn't it interesting that all the people that don't want us to work, have jobs ?

I told my kids that tonight even before I read this and they laughed at me. That's OK, they are young. Stay at home for another 45 days....tell that to the contractor hair stylist who hasn't earned a dime in the last 5 weeks and is dead broke. multiply that by about 50 million. We all hold the Doctors and Nurses is very high regards, how about the millions that are staying home voluntarily, putting themselves in financial harm to keep others safe? There are heroes all around us.

It's not that we are idiots, and I think that most of us do take it seriously, but we are not going to panic and stay at home while the government goes deeper into debt to send us all money. A month of quarantine was enough. It is time to open the economy back up. Those of you who want to stay in your homes are absolutely welcome to. I will take reasonable precautions, but I am done with the lockdown.

Amen to that, dude. They will do anything, up to and including destroying the country's economy to get back in power. I hope it backfires on them. They are working on another impeachment as we speak. That will be their October surprise.
