Passon Od Vs Keisler Tko

-
I am now terribly conflicted, I was planning on a Kiesler 4sp auto, maybe RJ can chime in on his experience with Kiesler.
I liked the deeper first gear on their set up, also the shorter main shaft made sense.

Blue you have been fore warned. Don't put to much thounght into the deep first gear thing with the a-41 its not that deep and hardley noticable. Keep in mind that he has filed chapter 11 and may not be there in the near future to support the product, and even if he is you send it back on your dime in hopes that they (the people who provided the defective product in the first place) decide the warranty will cover your particular issue, if not you will be paying for repair and return shipping. The they here isn;t Keisler. Keisler is buying these units from a rebuilder that they refused to name. Sorry but thier track record isnt good enough for me to put that kind of trust in them.

hey guys, but what is the difference between a keisler tko and tremec tko? Ive never heard of guys having problems with tko's popping out of gear, and only being hard to get into 3rd if at a high rpm....are they the same trannies?

The two differences I see in this kit is that you have to (1) cut out the cross bracing that outlines the floor hump and add their replacement brace. (2) It also mentions cutting more of the floor and replacing the metal with their top piece. The Keisler kit does not have these step I believe and this may allow higher mounting to avoid some of the driveshaft angle issues. Same transmission is used. I have not used them nor know anyone personally that has so I cannot comment on their customer service or track record. Just another option to look into if you want a complete kit, are willing to cut the floor and do the mods necessary to mount a 5 speed.

The Keisler kit is a Tremec transmission. He doesn't manufacture the transmissions, he just bundled it into a kit that allows you to mount the Tremec into a Chrysler. Most of the components of the kit are manufactured by other vendors.

No, the Kesiler kit requires floorpan modifications in the A-Body applications. It does include a new cross member and a flat, laser cut sheetmetal piece that needs to be bent and contoured into the floor hump. It's not a straight bolt in installation.

Go ahead spend your money with Kielser even though you have been forewarned. They are slithering snakes, I had bad personal experiences with those slimes. Many people have been burned by them. I fortunately was able to get the bank to take care of them.

As far as the Passon product, I can't say enough good things about Jamie and the product. Those of you complaining are not telling the whole story.

Keisler gene....

Are you a representitive of keisler?
If so,looks like you have quite some explaining to do...

Now you're talkin!!!!
that baby is NICE. wonder why nobody had the balls to build that before instead of using parts cobbled together from oem bins.
the vision of having a 5 speed in my car just got clearer.

+1:-D....lets hear it

Please....... let's hear it.

As a professional mechanic that does alot of mods on alot of brands of cars, I will say there are quite a few companies that state that their products fit well......but not all live up to what they state. THAT IS A FACT.

This is going to be an interesting thread.

heard alot of horror stories to about both those products. personally I'd go with a T5 and a transdapt bellhousing and flywheel.
those trannys can be made damn near bullet proof on the cheap.

in the comments it says $2300. if it really sells that cheap it is so making it way into my car sooner or later. they say the gm style one should be out in march 2010 i think and the chrysler will follow at some point.

Sorry to hijack the thread from it's current state, but if I remember the original post wasn't it about the representatives from different companies who chime in on forums to make themselves look better. Just food for thought, but KEISLERGENE has been called out, his name is a dead giveaway, but considering TomQ has posted 3 times at the moment and two of those posts are completely beligerent towards anyone who badmouths Passon perhaps a few other questions need to be asked, also. Just saying is all.

Personally, I don't have anything invested in either of 'em. At this point neither have taken my money and at this point neither will. I'm good with 727 in the Sport Satellite and a T56 is looking like a nice idea for the 'Cuda.

holy crap Joe thanks for showing that to us! i think i have just decided what 5 speed is going into my scamp when the t5 grenades lol...well not totally obviously, but definatly be interested to see how it fares...for only 2300bucks that is a steal man, and its syncrhoed too!

Post count has nothing to do with common sense and experience. I have a lot of both. I may new here but that's all that new. Post count:-D:-D:-D:-D:-D:-D:-D
Way too funny....LMAO

I have one of Jamies transmissions [#2]in use and it gets torture tested every year. The pos that it is in will more than like eat what ever you are driving, so go get it and get ready for a beating. Put your money where your keyboard is buckwheat...
:sign3:

As for the Keilser product I would not use it if it was free. I fell victim to call of the siren [look it up it's in greek mythology-can you even spell mythology????]
My bank had to take care of the snake and cut it off at the head to get any customer service. Gene can come on here all he wants but the story has not changed in 8 years, just the names and faces. Chapter 11 is a good thing...

As for you whiners who claim they have a problem with the Passon product -PAY CLOSE ATTENTION!!! Pick the phone-I am sure you have a cell phone stuck in your ear right now-and call Jamie. He will help you fix whatver problem you are having with his product right away. Do you need me to post the number??? After you call him be sure to come back on here and tell us how stupid you feel.

In the meantime I am going some where else and not returning, this is worse than that other place.

Take the name calling easy and stick to the facts if you please.

Getting others worked up and making a mess of threads is something we normally do not allow to go on unchecked and if need be, unpunished.

This strong arm tactic keeps this place running alot better than other boards and will so be kept that way.

This message pertains to everyone.

Thanks crew, back to the thread at hand.

I have not done any O.D. research in awhile, but I have delt with J. Passon in the past for my tranny needs and he was super nice and chatted it up with me (On a tech level) for sometime till I was clear on what was going on.

Granted, he can't have a great day everyday nor can he be an angle and super nice guy everyday ethier. He human, a factor many people seem to foget when talking to a biz.

It just seems easy to crap on someone head and rep before giving a gy a brake. Your exp. may vary, but mine was allways good
.

i really hope that price is correct. but knowing how most places are that will be the price for the GM version and they will triple it for the mopar crowd. the gm version should be out around march and god knows when the mopar version will be out.

Thanks, rumble. Like I said, completely beligerent. Didn't think I was hijacking the thread given what the very first post was. I've been following this thread as it's progressed with a lot of interest, simply because of the Cuda build. Was thinking along the lines of the Keisler package, but now from what I've read I've been doing some re-thinking along those lines. But when guys like those above come out of nowhere, start posting with what was posted, and along the lines of the original post, it gets a body to thinking, too.
Like I said, I've got no invested interest in either company. I haven't spent a dime to date with either one of 'em and given the idea that when it's time for a tranny for the Cuda someone will have come along with a better mouse trap, then that's where I'll turn.
So far to date I've dealt with Keisler on just one thing at the booth in Carlisle. I'm looking at possibility of laying my 413 in my Ramcharger while keeping the truck 4 speed. Shafi seemed personable and knowledgable, but asked me to talk to one of his salesmen since we was writing an estimate for another gentleman on one of the Tremec packages. The salesman told me the measurements they'd need so they could fit me with a bellhousing, and what I'd be looking at to upgrade the current hydraulic set up to one of theirs. And he quoted me a helluva lot less than Shafi did initially because he was willing to sell me the pieces needed that would work with what I already had, not the entire package. Let's just say I was treated better by Keisler's salesman than when I had just a few basic questions at the Indy booth.

well lets hope the mopar one comes out soon after and without a price change...for some reason though 2300 sounds too good to be true, but we'll have to wait...i cant see why they would make it more for the mopar one if the internals are the same, but who knows...the good thing is the gm boys get to be the guinea pigs and see if these things really are what they are said to be...it seems like they will be offerring race gear sets as well, since in one of the pictures of the gears it looks like they are pro ringed...im interested to hear the gear spreads
