Anyone try these distributors?

52 bucks for a new electronic dizzy sounds awful cheep :toothy10::toothy10::toothy10::toothy10:

Evidently they aren't too bad. Did you look at their feedback? Over 70K and 99.9%. Looks like they've sold a ton of them, too.

I loved mine, you just can't beat the price, the only problem is if you want to run an aftermarket box like an MSD, for some reason they don't like them, plus the mech. advance is fairly stiff, & you'll never be able to change the springs without tearing up the bushings that hold them in, but if your looking for a decent dist. for your mild street car & just want to keep an aftermarket coil, you CAN"T beat those dizzy's, i say grab 1, hell grab 2 for the price, i got mine from them (skip white), there decent people to deal with.

Where do you get leads to suit the stupid caps they come with from? I looked all over my town and couldn't find a lead with a spark plug end on both ends.

i believe Magnum engines are like that.

Hi there.
I have bought two of these and they just work perfect.
I have one in my sons Dodge with a 89 318 and one in my Valiant with a high performence 273. The price $52 is just fantastic, it will cost more to upgrade your original distrbutor.
I use 8mm Accel leads and they came with both these special HEI conectors and standard conectors.
Buy it and you will not regret it.

They are indeed very good.
Not everything great has an MSD sticker on it.
It removes clutter, and GM HEI is a great ignition.
I am using one in my 408.

And I agree skip white is excellent to deal with.
I have bought from them a bunch of times already.

Four of the folks here (so far) have them and like them. What wires did y'all use? I just wish the cap was tan, black or blue...

Thanks for the feedback! I think I'll order one and see how it runs. It won't be anything but a driver, so even if it doesn't allow the full potential of the motor, it's better than nothing at this point since the budget for the Duster is pretty much depleted.

I'll let you know my opinion of it and how well it works.

Thanks,
Scott

I wonder what slantsixdan's opinion would be on this as he is an "electrical expert"...and I "think" but not sure, he states a few times the gm hei is junk....Not trying to stir the pot at all, just simply wonder what his thoughts are as he has had some valid points in some of his reasoning's.., and although he might come off as a "know it all"...

Need a distributor to finish the engine and power up the son's duster, and was just curious if anyone had used one of the self contained HEI ones like this?

They lost me when they called the Poly 318s a "Y Block." That just makes me crazy, they are not Y blocks and I get sick of seeing that. It is very difficult to tell them from an LA block, unless you know what you are looking for.

Slantsixdan likes GM HEI. It's me that said they're not all that great like so many people claim, but I didn't say they were junk. For a stock or near stock engine it's ok, but so is a stock mopar ignition. Just like anything else when you build a performance engine the ignition needs upgrading because most stock ignitions don't fire good over 5,000 rpm.

POS,

Have you used this dizzy with any type of rev limiter or retard box? You are a NITROUS guy so I figured I would ask.

Also can you dial the curve in and limit the advance? If so How?
You won't be using the vac advance correct?

Never ran one so I don't know and that is why I am asking.

Okay, thank you for clearing that up for me... :)

I was also considering buying one of these a while back but opted instead for an MP adjustable dizzy instead as if I remember correctly these are fixed in terms of rate and amount of advance and I wanted to be able to tune it specifically for my car.

they are adjustable,is just not real precise .there are 2 tabs on the advance plate that can be tweaked to limit total advance.the one in the link is not a procomp but the procomp parts will interchange with it(advance springs, cap ,rotor ,etc.).they come with 20*mech advance.all in by 2200 on the sb version.
