    Strut rod difference

What's the difference, if any, from the 1972 and earlier and the 1973 and later strut rods. I need one for my kid's '74 Duster. Want to make sure I get the right one if seller is unsure.

    Pistons for 318

Thanks Chief, I'm not positive about the 167's, but with the open chamber 675 heads I probably wont hit over 8.5. I'm trying to get by with minimal machining to cut cost. The KB 399's might do it, but I'm not sure of chamber volume on the heads to determine approximate CR.

    Pistons for 318

I have a '73 318 laying around that I want to build on the cheap for my kid's Duster. I want to run a Hughes Whiplash cam in it to give him that sound we all love. I will be using the stock 675 heads, Edelbrock Performer, Carter Comp AFB 625, Heddman headers, 904 w/ Trans Go kit and 3.21's...

    273/318 rebuild advice

Well the kid finally did it, he lost it and smacked the curb so hard he folded the front left wheel. While I'll be in possession of the Moose Mobile (74 Duster w/ 273 Commando) for a while fixing it, I thought of doing up a spare 1973 318 I have laying around. The 1965 273 Commando that's in the...

    purple cam specs

3forty's right. The "OLD" DC Hemi grind from the 70's was speced out like he said. It got superseded with the one MP has which is a straight 280/.480 configuration.

Transgo vs. B&M shift kit. Fast advice for Xmas

I want to buy a shift kit as a Christmas present for my son's 74 Duster. It has a slightly overstock Commando 273 with a 904 and 3.21 8.25 differential. What's the consensus of these two brands and what's the popular product to use/buy? Thanks. I need to order soon, so fast advice is appreciated.

    8.25 differential casing ID

I bought an NOS sure-grip differential on eBay for my kid's Duster. These are from a lot of old stock and loose and unboxed, therefore no part number. However, they are marked on the case with the number 18-05-039-903. Please tell me this is the correct size case for 3.21 and lower gear ratios...

    273 for 318 swap advice

Timing is set at 12 deg. static and totals around 36 deg. mechanical. Add about 12 more deg. for vacuum advance. I fished around for a short slot advance cam for the distributor specifically to run a lot of initial timing for low end. The kickdown is set for WOT and it opens all the way, however...

    273 for 318 swap advice

I like the gear idea. What about 302 heads? I've been reading the site since I posted the thread. I really don't feel like building another engine. If a head swap and gears will wake up this thing, that suits me fine. Oh, the cam specs are 270 deg. advertised, 224 @ .050 and .468 lift in and...

    273 for 318 swap advice

I have a FREE 318, and the Schumacher mounts I have are 273/318 only. the 340/360 one's are different. Trying to go cheap. Maybe advice on more power in the 273 would be better, since it's only got about 3000 on the rebuild.

    273 for 318 swap advice

The heads are original 64-65 castings, same as the block. The compression in the 273 is 10:1, putting out about 160 psi. I know that due to the tiny bore of the 273, that heads are a very limited choice due to clearance issues. Any other ideas perhaps?

    273 for 318 swap advice

Hey guys, it's advice time for me and my son, Moose. That 273 we did early this year is a slug. He wants more GO. so we're thinking of up sizing to a mid 70's 318 my buddy will give us. The 273 has a new Comp Cams 270 Magnum solid lifter cam, Eddy Performer 318, Hedman headers,in a 74 Duster...

    Part Throttle Kickdown TF904

Ok guys, I'm glad some of you know what I'm talking about. And for those of you who don't, here's the deal. Prior to 1971 Chrysler had no part throttle kick down on V8's. The sixes had it to help putt them along at lower street and cruising speeds. The linkage regulated pressure and kick down at...

    Leaking Saginaw pump

Just what I needed after 2 months of trying to get my kid's Duster on the road. I finally got the engine swap done and the P/S pump leaks like a stuck pig. It seems to be coming from the front section of the body, not the shaft or lines. My buddy thinks the res O ring is bad, but it didn't leak...
